Naltrexone was working quite well for me - when I followed the method properly my consumption fell by half and I had zero side effects. Unfortunately they stopped shipping Naltrexone to my Central European country, apparently in favour of the next-generation Selincro.
There is no doubt that Selincro 18 mg "works" in terms of slashing consumption, but it's extremely expensive. The other thing is that it seems incredibly strong. I've found very little about this on the web, so I'm concerned it may be having particular side effects on me. After the pill I invariably want to stop drinking after 4 to 8 drinks, but I start to get a bizarre, dry-headed 'hangover' either immediately or in the middle of the night. I always wake up in the night after taking it, may have trouble getting back to sleep, often sweat all night, and often this Selincro-hangover persists into the next day, sometimes even if I only had three beers the night before. It has also happened that 24 hours after taking the pill I started drinking and couldn't continue, even without taking a fresh pill.
With Selincro I also HAVE to go to bed at a certain point. With Naltrexone it was easier: I would eventually become simply disinterested in drinking more, but could still converse, dance, whatever, and maybe continue to drink one glass for several hours. With Selincro I feel sick at a certain point and need to go home to bed.
Ideally, I need it to be half as strong. Would taking half the pill work? There is no advice on the net. Has anyone else had these problems with Selincro?
Many thanks and good luck to all of you!
