Hi Folks,

I have just discovered an online support forum for recovery from benzodiazepines. It also addresses what are apparently known as the Z drugs, which is of interest to me as I have occasionally taken zopiclone (a sleeping pill). The forum can be found at http://www.thetrap.org.uk. Apologies if this has already been mentioned in another thread but I did do a search before posting this thread and was unable to find anything to that effect.

Good luck to all fellow benzo-takers!

V.

This site recommends Ashton, which Eskapa mentioned in a post. At benzodetoxrecovery.com, we call it the cut-and-suffer method. Ashton is a saint, and she started the revolutionary idea that abrupt detox from benzos is harmful and cruel. Others have improved on her method to develop a titration method that tapers without side effects or post-benzo syndrome.

Before I discovered benzodetoxrecovery.com, I had started following something resembling Ashton. That's when my drinking shot up because it managed beautifully the side effects of a taper faster than my body could handle.

We will face the paradox that the benzo folks say we must stop the alcohol, and we have heard from Roy Eskapa that benzos will hamper our TSM progress. We can do both and we will press on together. We will get there.

I must say, I am impressed by how much courage and commitment is demonstrated in these forums. So much for the old AA assumption that all practicing alkies are weak and morally defective. You guys on benzos are the BOMB. I'm right here on the sidelines, cheering you all on!

We are so crushed under the cunning, baffling, powerful Alcohol Almighty! {paraphrased from AA}
Oh wait. We all have free will and are intelligent beings. We have control over any and all of our addictions with the correct physiological treatments.

Yes, G4M, courage and commitment are what are necessary. If I may add one more quality, it would be tenaciousness.

Hi Folks,

Typical - I discover the TRAP (as it's called) and now they are in the process of moving the site to a new web host. Oh well, they tell me that patience is a virtue! No doubt, the Tranquilliser Recovery and Awareness Place (TRAP) will be up-and-running soon.

Virgil, why not check out benzodetoxrecover.com and check out the good people there. They too are titrating off of benzo's. You may find someone there who will help you with this. I am going to do a taper as soon as I get back from vacation. I am afraid of the withdrawal syndrome while away from my doctors and familiar places plus do not want to ruin this vacation! Good luck.
