Good Morning Ladies (and any Gentlemen reading)

This is a safe place for women on the TSM Board who are interested in sharing stories, information, starting discussions, telling jokes, and just blathering on about general stuff related to The Sinclair Method or life in general.

No rules, except let's keep off politics, religion, and personal remarks. And of course we will keep it 'clean.'

What I am already wondering for some time, maybe because I am still quite 'young', but I do not have any signs when I had my liver tested recently, really I was very surprised that my ASAT and ALAT en Gamma GB were under the safe levels and really a lot as well. Is this only related to my age or is it possible that the liver is not reacting on the amounts I drink to sleep?

I've always had very low Gamma GT results, I think it's a very individual thing and also the liver is supposed to be able to carry on repairing for quite a while before showing signs of stress and damage.

One question, do you eat when you drink?Having food in your stomach is supposed to slow absorption of alcohol and may help protect the body from damage.

I had mine tested too when I was at my worst - drinking a ton every day - and lo and behold! no damage...what a relief. So don't worry too much. Just do what you can to limit all damage - eat as well as you can too, get as much exercise as you are able etc.

I hope some others chime in as there may be other advice for you.

I do eat well and am training for half a marathon, so in that compartment I am doing well! It's merely at night I do drink, because I can't sleep, and otherwise I do drink socially. I know I sleep worse by drinking, but still it makes me drift away easier... I am 32 by the way, and am glad I have found TSM at an early age, so I can prevent the damage... Otherwise, I have just bought a house and moved last week, so I have had enough exercise by carrying a zillion boxes on one of the hottest days of the year :-) Now I am a proud home owner of my own place with a garden in Amsterdam!

Sounds great, "girl"

Which half-marathon are you training for? I've done some marathons in years gone by and it's a lot of work training eh? I wasn't drinking during those years and I'm glad I wasn't

Have you tried other methods to get to sleep? Like melatonin? Or 5HTP or GABA? They can work for some people. I take 500 mg of GABA at bed time and in the past, if I woke up around 3 am I would take a 5HTP and it helped me to get back to sleep.
Have a good day. Babs

Hi Babs,

I have tried a lot of things, and I use melatonin as well, but it is more psychological I think than psysical that I can't sleep. I have slept very well during a certain period last year (approximately six months), so I know there is nothing wrong physically.

Only if the fear of not sleeping returns, I become too conscious and that means also that what I fear the most, returns... So that means that I turn to my old friend to sleep, and feel foggy/not sharp and tired the next day when I wake up...

What exactly is Gaba?

Oh and btw the half marathon I am training for is the one in Amsterdam in October. At least when I go running, I get tired naturally and it keeps me from drinking in the evenings :)

I wish I had a house with a garden Jealous  ! LOL I live in Las Vegas perhaps I could start a Catus garden. I just wanted to chime in and give a shout out to the ladies! I got to 154 AF days today my first year is up on Sept. 22.

UK Blonde for transparency sake the 154 AF days are not in a row. Like I have said in previous
post Las Vegas is not an easy town not to drink in. If I am going to drink I take the Nal
before hand. I notice less units and much more stimulating conversations. Its hard to really
engage in talk when you are getting blotto.

My 50 birthday is on the 12th. That will probably be my next Nal day. I wish I could have got
183 AF days this year because that would have been a solid six months. I am going to try
to get a 30 AF right after my BDay.

As the book says you get indifferent to it but my cravings are not completely gone.
