I have read several posts by others who have switched to hard drinks from wine or beer, usually with bad results. That happened to me this week, and I'm not sure why. I think maybe my brain is saying, "hey, wine isn't doing it anymore, let's drink tequila." I think I originally switched to wine because beer wasn't quite doing it. Now I know that bottle of tequila sent me into a bad place, though somehow I didn't think it would.

I'm wondering, has anyone else had the urge to switch to harder alcohol while doing TSM, and if so, what were the results?

Hi, I switched to vodka last week and drank a bottle in two days. It was not pretty. I am a wine drinker too. My thoughts were that wine is the culprit and I could control the vodka better, yeah right! Used to be able to drink vodka in moderation, less sugar and to tannins so thought it would be a better form of poison. Have gained over 20 lbs. this year do to my drinking and that is also a reason. Not sure what I should be doing but am plugging alongand back to the dam wine

As Potato reminds us often, don't overthink it. Take your nal an hour before you drink -- every time. That's all.

This I find very interesting! I switched from wine to vodka because I was getting waaay too drunk and feeling the hangovers much more on wine! Just the opposite. If I had vodka I mixed it with seltzer water that contains absolutely no sugar or artificial sweeteners then I added stevia for sweetener and the seltzer had natural rasberry flavour. I found that I drank much more water and had less alcohol and far less severe hangovers when I over did it. I felt so much better without the wine. So I find this fascinating. Wine really made me feel drunk much faster than the vodka did. :)

6 days af today! Sinclar miracle I suppose. Cravings zero

Oh Yeah! and as Lena says. That part I never over think. Just take the pill one hour before no matter what you drink. Best to all :D

I've always been able to drink anything. Since starting, wine (especially) almost nauseates me. It's not that it makes me sick - I just sort of gag drinking it. I can drink all the hard stuff I want.

RV so I calculate that you are a tad over 4 months and can still drink all the hard stuff you want. But 50 units a week to 15 units a week is still quite alot of progress. Do you agree? How is it going? :)

potato -

I can drink whatever hard stuff I want to, not all the hard stuff I want. What I mean is that if I want to drink Scotch (my beverage of choice) I can. Or I can drink vodka. Or whatever. But wine makes me gag now. Not sure why.

Oh my 50 --> 15 is definitely what I was looking for. If I could keep it at this I'd be content. I don't think I'm completely out of the woods because I still have days, perhaps once every 10 days or so, where I feel like I "need" a drink. I don't think I could abstain for a month, but haven't tried. But the bottom line is that I'm not killing my liver and if I had to do this (15/wk) forever I could.

Thanks RV . You totally cleared up what I was wondering about. I pictured something entirely different for a minute there and scary. Good. All is good in my world when you are ok. :)
