As the subject states. A few people in my group today mentioned drinking for sleep (Not AA, never) How many of us started drinking initially for the calming, sedative effects? For me it started this way and I do believe at some point endorphins drove me to the point of complete insanity. Now that the endorphins are blocked and behaviors are conditioned the dependence on AL for daily drinking (sleep) is such a psychological condition. Thoughts?

When I first started reading up on TSM I was skeptical as I knew that alcohol worked in a big way for me when it came to the GABA effects. I love the calming effect and have had problems before with benzo abuse as I love the GABA effects of those to.

I also knew that it worked through the opiod receptors for me as it works like no other pain killer theres is (for me personally). I've taken opiods recreationally before and compared to a good high dose of booze they don't compare.

Alcohol is a complicated drug which like others doesn't just work on a certain receptor in the brain. People over on Mywayout have had great seccess wiht the GABA drug Baclofen so I think this proofs it has a big part to play for some.
