Congratulations on fighting the good fight-- and winning!

Who knows how many alcoholics you have helped because you went about obtaining Nal through a health practioner. Great for you!!

I am just curious to know what exactly swayed the MD in Naltrexone's favor?

One doctor down, thousands yet to go,

Thanks K1! There are a team of doctors in my practice and my doctor told me that she had never prescribed nor heard of Nal before but she took advice, mainly from a dr. David Young, not in the practice she is with and from his recommendation and after having a meeting with the other doctors in her practice she said she would prescribe. I also got (sort of) a recommendation from Phoenix Futures, a drug and alcohol out patients clinic and this also helped. It has been a long time coming, but we are getting there, just slower for some of us!

I have a Phoenix Futures mug - just drank my coffee out of it whilst logging in!

Just to add to this I have been prescribed Nal as per TSM via my GP on the NHS for around 6 months now. Like Chocolate's GP, mine had no prior experience because Nal is usually only prescribed by specialist Drug and Alcohol teams - and she had to consult with someone in that field.

It is possible though, as long as you jump through the correct hoops.

Congratulations CM.
