A very unscientific poll, just for curiosity. Please choose the option that most closely resembles your experience with TSM. You can choose more that one option, because sometimes TSM just seems to work that way.

At first I thought, "why haven't we done this poll before?". Then I thought, "well, it couldn't be done until a significant amount of time had passed on this website". It is just over a year and a half of this forum's existence, so it looks like a good time for an unscientific poll. Great idea, Firebird!

There are a few problems with polls like this. People who have moved away from this forum will never "vote". The cured that no longer post, the improved that no longer post, the people who gave up, the people that it did not work for and left, etc. will never get to participate. There are also lurkers that follow TSM, but never register and therefore cannot vote.

Still, great idea, Firebird! This is the right time to do it.

Firebird: Since you are the only one who can do this, may I suggest you edit subject line in the first entry of this thread to explicitly state "POLL". More people may participate. Thanks.

Bob

I might not have phrased the question as well as I could have, but I think that would be option 4

Firebird,

No problem. Your wording was fine. I was just stuck on the results and couldn't enter my vote. I'm good now though!! BTDT

Thanks for posting this, and I'll be sure to keep you posted on my progress (I've been stalking the site for several weeks but just started on TSM/NAL today). I spent hours going through the Sober Recovery site posts and was not surprised at the vitriol directed at TSM. I was also "kicked out" of my AA group for talking about TSM. As a researcher with a PhD in education, it is going to be my mission to spread the word about TSM, even my primary care doctor knew nothing about it and refused to prescribe me NAL. SHocking, as I told her I'd been drinking 3-4 bottles of wine daily had been miserable in daily outpatient for months, and knew I was slowly killing myself with alcohol.

From one Saint to another. St. Vincent was the Patron Saint of wine growers and of course St. Jude is the Patron Saint of Lost Causes. Don't think for a moment you are a lost cause. TSM has worked for many, it is working for me and it may very well work for you. Your doctor not prescribing you NAL with your alcohol intake is criminal. Naltrexone is a very safe drug and the COMBINE study demonstrates that it is ok for primary care physicians to prescribe NAL without therapy. Refusing to prescribe you NAL is like refusing to prescribe penicillin to someone with a bacterial infection. If you can't get a prescription for NAL through normal channels then there is always the online option from www.alldaychemist.com and other sites. If you can take NAL and gradually reduce your intake from 3-4 bottles of wine to more reasonable levels then you may be able to gradually detox yourself and avoid withdrawal symptoms. 15-20 glasses of wine a day is no joke. You are likely physically dependent on alcohol and cold turkey is not going to be fun and may be life threatening. I wish you well.

7 months in. not cured yet, but a damn site better than before TSM. cut my intake in half with no effort, and i'm drinking less and less. Haven't puked, blacked out, made an ass of myself, pissed anybody off, showed up at work smelling of alcohol, or let anybody down in any way since I started TSM. I just upped the dosage and think I'm about to turn the corner to the cure. :D

this thing will be skewed because the vast majority of the curedfolk leave the board and go about their lives, and a ton of people start out on the board and leave after a month or less. The ones who drop off early may or may not be following the program out there, :?: I suspect most aren't. almost all of us who post here are in the process.

still a good idea firebird. thanks
