I got some meds from alldaychemist so I could get started as I awaited the discussion with my doc. I was also concerned that my doc would not go for it... I have the script but have not been able to fill it yet since I live in the sticks. I wonder if I have read on here or imagined that the US script is less likely to cause the side effects? The side effects are starting to be a drag.

Thanks

S

What side effects are you having? The most common ones reported on the forum are nausea, spaciness, feeling tired and sleep disturbance. Feeling tired is not really a side effect it's just that naltrexone blocks the first drink effect which often causes increased alertness and stimulation for the first few drinks . When naltrexone blocks that effect you just get the depressive and sedative effects of alcohol and feel tired. It's possible some of the side effects are really just related to the rapid decrease in alcohol use that some people experience. A list of possible side effects is as follows:

Side Effects from Genericsmed.com website

Some common side effects caused by this drugs are nervousness; nausea; increased energy; irritability; stomach pain/cramps; increased thirst; joint and muscle pain; sleeplessness; appetite loss; anxiety; chills; delayed ejaculation; constipation; diarrhea; drowsiness; dizziness; feeling down; low energy; vomiting. Seek advice from your doctor if any of these most common side effects continue or become worse.

This drug may also cause severe side effects such as, cramping; dark urine; severe allergic reactions; depression; abdominal or stomach pain; suicidal thoughts or behaviors; vomiting; unusual tiredness or weakness; white bowel movements; yellowing of the skin or eyes.

These side effects occur very rarely.

I'm glad I just had spaciness, mild nausea when I forgot to eat something when taking Nal and tiredness. Some of the other sides effects look quite unpleasant. Side effects seem to pass quickly for the majority of users so hang in there.

I have been splitting my pills (River Pharm) similar to allday generic, this first week. I only took a whole one day and felt the side effects much worse the following day. I switched back to the half. The half for now seems to be working fine. I plan to step it up soon if I see that the 25 dose is not working to reduce my intake. I am really sensitive to meds and the side effects so I am purposely being careful. I think I even read one person say they only took a quarter tablet at first since it was making them sick. I am not sure if the "on line" pill would effect you any different than what you get from the doc. Did the half make you feel as bad as the whole? Also did it curb your desire to drink as much as the whole? Just curious since everybody reacts differently to drugs, oh yea and booze. I guess thats why some can handle stuff better than others if you know what I mean. Hang in there, it's going to be worth it.

The spaciness and nausea mostly. They are already beginning to subside. Along with my honeymoon decrease in craving, I am also not feeling much like eating, even now that the more uncomfortable nausea has started to fade. Maybe I can lose that 10 lbs that has been hanging on!

Thanks for replying.
