Will some of you log in over there and help these people understand what we're doing here? I'm starting to get a little pissed because people just want to tear us down for not doing AA. thanks

Joe, Ive practically given up going on other sites except one that Ive been on for years. Ive posted on close to 10 other sites but people just dont seem to want to know and Ive been made to look ridicilous. As well as that its seems that almost everybody on some sites have found God. Ive no problem with that but at the end of the day they are not open to a medical answer.

I've thought about it, but I would rather spend my time here, where free speech is the norm, and differences are discussed more or less respectfully. Interesting to note that those forums are crawling with people who are obsessed with alcohol (or abstinence from said), whereas here most of the cured have better things to think about because they have been freed from their addiction. Ironically, the most convincing evidence of TSM's success may be our absence on alcohol-obsessed forums.

Disclaimer: I think anyone who is abstaining in AA and is nice to their kids, coworkers and significant other should stay abstinent and keep doing AA. Those that are white-knuckling and snap at their kids, coworkers and significant others or are otherwise irritable and generally not nice to be around should consider they are experiencing alcohol deprivation effect and should seek help for that problem if they hope to ever enjoy life again.

Joe, perhaps the problem is the folks on cyberrecovery have not reached rock bottom with AA yet. Or maybe they need to admit they are powerless over their powerlessness. Seriously you are dealing with zealots and you can not use reason or argument with a zealot. If you push they will push back. Anyone googling Naltrexone will likely come across this forum and it is the examples that they read here and the information they gain from Dr. Eskapa's book and the published studies on TSM that will lead them to try TSM. The 12 step solution for alcoholism reminds me of the 18th century cure for a deadly bacterial infection...bloodletting. A small percentage of patients would get better on their own (spontaneous remission) most would die (continuing being alcoholics) and some would get worse from the treatment (alcoholism accelerated). Mostly bloodletting and 12 step programs are just a waste of time. Although they do occupy you so you don't notice you are sick as much. Contrast this with the 21st Century cure for a deadly bacterial infection...Antibiotics. They work more often than not and so does TSM according to the research. If you tried to tell a doctor during the Revolutionary War that you could cure deadly infections without bloodletting they would have thought you were crazy. Faith is a powerful thing unfortunately it is just as powerful when it is misplaced. I applaud your willingness to apply the 12th step to the Sinclair Method. I think anyone looking for information and help with it is fortunate this board exists. They just have to take the first step an admit their AA centered life had become unmanageable. I wonder if I take naltrexone while being a smart-ass if I can extinguish that behavior as well.

yeah I don't think someone who's happy and abstinent should try TSM. If I had been, I wouldn't have tried it. but you're right unfortunately, treatment is controlled by religious zealots. I will continue to post about my TSM journey here and elsewhere, and if I get cured, I'll shout from the rooftops about it on facebook and anywhere I can.

Joe, I really have enjoyed reading through your posts and the encouragement you have given me and everyone else on the board shows you care and are passionate about this. I look forward to hearing about your progress and success on this journey.

Remember this mock Latin phrase:

Illegitimi non carborundum- Don't let the bastards grind you down.

And to paraphrase St. Vincents Latin Quote,...I think Sly Stone said it like "Don't let the bastard bring you down,....yeah yeah yeah yeah,,,,you can make it if you try!"

HAHAHA...

I just read the real lyrics and it says "Don't let the plastic bring you down".....

Oh well,...all these years I thought it was the other line. I for this purpose will go with my interpretation. Yeah yeah yeah yeah. You can make it if you try, Best, Jim
PS True freedom here. Respect.

Joe

I aplaud your effort..I tried awhile back because I was SOO EXCITED about what TSM has done for me. But quickly realized I was fighting a losing battle. Sober Recovery? LOL those people are freaking nuts..they are almost comical..they remind me of the Salem Witch Trials...lol I got better things to do than be burned at the stake by a bunch of nuts..lol Like firebird..it's much more enjoyable posting here.

They oh so remind me of why I would die with drink in hand then ever enter back into that CULT again. LOL I sometimes wonder if reading Sober Recover and their cult ricdiculousness is reason enough not to drink..lol..god help us if that was the only way.

If you want to spread the word about TSM go register on http://wqd.netwarriors.org and start a journal.

I was having lunch with a couple of my writer friends yesterday and was describing TSM to them, after which they reminded me that I'm a journalist and why the heck am I not writing about this? They're right. I'll see if I can find a suitable publication and pitch an article about TSM; will let you all know what happens.
