Does sinclair work for cocaine? My sister is really fucked up right now and she has a child. She is neglecting the chile, he didn't hae cavities filled for a long time and now will have to go to the hospital and be put to sleep to get crowns on them, she leaves him with my mom and babysitters and never comes home etc....I know she is out drinking and we did find a bag of coke in her car. She's beento rehab in the past and always loved coke so I am pretty sure she's out drinking and doing blow again. I would love to see her on sinclair but have 2 issues with recommending it

1: does sinclair work with coke?
2. She has a child and likes to run around and drive drunk and do coke, a program that allows her to drink may continue to put my nephew in danger.

what do you think? AA is such a failure in my experience but sinclair seems risky

I hate to say this but have you considered having the child taken to safety? I know this is a terrible thing to even think about but this is quite serious no? You sound like you love your sister but she is not being a good mother right now. Can you take the child, or someone else in your family?

I can only pray for her, and your family, as I have no advice on the other matters, re the coke etc.

Doesn't the book mention that it has worked for opiates but just hasn't scientifically been studied. I'm pretty sure heroin AND cocaine addicts ignoring the abstinence recommendation also had success....could've just been heroin though I don;t remember

Hi Joe - UGH!! So sorry for this. I don't think NAL is going to work w/ coke...tho not sure. But I think Baclofen does...Check out some of the posts on MWO. Some have mentioned their drug abuse has stopped.

I'm so sorry for your sister & hate hearing her neglect of your nephew. Hope your family can rescue him before something tragic happens. Keep us posted -

Thanks folks. I talked to her about the family taking him away and she flipped. I finally had to point out all the things she's not doing which was painful. she screamed and hung up the phone saying she was going to cut off the family. she lies and denies everything even when it's obvious. I worry that she might'v gone out on a heavy bender last night as a result. I hate to hurt her but we all feel like something really bad could happen to my nephew and we better do what we can. there's a lot more to it than I mentioned. and I even found out last night that she borrowed 4 grand from my brother a couple of weeks ago to make kate mortgage payments. she got 100 grand from her ex husband a year ago and already went through that. 20 for a down payment on her house, and god knows what happened to the other 80.

I think at this point that in the dangerous position she is in, abstinence is the only way. a program allowing her to drink at all could be dangerous to her child. she drives and everything. I wish there were a treatment place she could go to that uses TSM that works in a month or so. we can't very well ship her to florida for 3 months. pray for us. thanks TSM board. love y'all

i've looked around and it seems Baclofen may be the best option. could anyone who's done Bac tell me how it works? how long does it take? I read a post saying that it mostly works on men? is this true? I really want to help my sister and AA is sooo ineffective but sinclair takes so long. help!!!!
