My doc is reluctant to prescribe Nal because I'm on Ace Inhibitors. Is there danger? Is anybody out there taking both? I'm posting this everywhere in hopes of getting a quick answer.

Unfortunately this is a question that only an MD could answer. You aren't getting a response -- not because no one cares -- but because no one is qualified to give you an informed answer or what would amount to medical advice.

Turns out he reluctantly agreed to prescribe but I would still like to hear if anybody else is taking the two meds.

Here's a link to a short consumer article that explains your doctor's concern.
http://www.drugs.com/drug-interactions/ ... 684-0.html
ACE inhibitors and naltrexone are listed among drugs that potentially cause liver toxicity (notice -- so is alcohol). You may want to point out to your doctor (who got his information from the naltrexone package insert) that the liver toxicity from naltrexone is due to a single study that showed elevated liver enzymes in 3 of 26 obese subjects given 300 mg doses of naltrexone. This info is in the package insert just below the warning box. It is also on pp. 216-217 in Eskapa's book, which is the "For Medical Professionals" chapter in which Eskapa sets out the package insert with his own comments/explanations/rebuttal. Here's a link to a reprint on this board of that chapter, which you may want to print out and take to your doctor.

I hope this information helps you to continue the dialogue with your doc about the possible risks and rewards of taking naltrexone. Let us know how it goes.

EDIT: By sharing this information, as Nick made clear, I'm not giving you medical advice. I'm giving you information to share with your doctor. No one here, including Sinclair and Eskapa (who are PhD's) is a medical professional.
