hey, just a question for everyone. BEFORE starting Sinclair, how many drinks did it take in one night before you found it hard (or impossible?) to stop drinking that night?

For me it wasn't a matter of "couldn't" stop as much as "why would I?". If I had one drink I had 20, because it meant I was out to get drunk. It's one of the basic misunderstandings that AAers can have about tsm: why would you drink if you're not going to get drunk? They forget that most of us (and most normal people) did not start out drinking to get drunk; maybe we were curious, or the taste grew on us, or it lubed the social gears, or whatever, but drinking to get drunk is a learned behavior.

And now for many of us it is a behavior that we are able to unlearn.

Short answer for me: 0.

I go with 0 also. Not drinking = not an option. And it wasn't that there was some number beyond which I slipped out of control, it was that I had to drink until I reached AT LEAST some number. That number was one bottle. I felt like a hero if I put a cork back into a bottle with *anything* in it.

I notice this has little if anything to do with how much we drank per day. For many of us, drinking daily was not an option. It was an imperative.

I have been posting here before, but changed my user name. Not sure where I am at the moment, but in answer to this question it was always one - if I drank at all, I would drink to excess.

Except for AF Sundays, which were always AF.

Edited to add: I agree with Lena, daily drinking was imperative, never optional.
