I think we need to start our own thread, girls...trying to keep up with the stories on all these threads is getting nutty...Don't want to limit it to us ladies only, do we?? But would be nice to contain the stories, frustrations and advice in one spot.

So somebody do it..maybe me. I'm just tired right now so maybe tomorrow! :-0

thanks for the encouragement! :)

i am afraid to quit smk because an uncle quite cold turkey booze and smoking and then had a massive stroke, which ruined his life and his families.

in my second day in, i am noticing less cravings for the ciggie

My crazy dating stories will appear over on the new thread titled "aw single ladies". On this thread I am going to try to stick to Sinclair method progress. An article in a 2005 copy of the American journal of Psychiatry , called, Anticraving Medications for Relapse Prevention: A possible New Class of Psychoactive Medications, said that in animal models they found that Naltrexone was effective for cue induced relapse but not stress induced relapse. In humans they found that it was inconclusive whether or not Nal helped stress induced relapse. I , of course am still doing the Sinclair method, but I find this interesting because anytime I have found drinking an issue at all, it has been because of a stressful situation. I believe the Sinclair method has benefitted me greatly, but I remain a slave to my stressy situations (which is not "all the time")", but I do believe less so because of the method. Has anyone else found anything similar? If so. Input would be cool. Thankyou. All in all, I am truly pleased with my result. Just have a few bugs to work out.
:D

Interesting thing has developed. I am now day 6 af without any effort or craving. Very unusual for me. For the past 4 months I would usually have had alcohol by now. The most interesting part is no cravings at all.! Benn doing alot of healthy eating and exersising . Feel great. Good luck to all! :D

Potato,

That is thrilling news regarding your alcohol free days. It really illustrates your success thus far. Personally these announcements from those of you who have been involved in the Sinclair Method the longest should be in a topic by itself with the subject line indicating such great news. It really helps those of us that are in the earlier stage and anyone just lurking here (in an attempt to learn as I did before joining) stay motivated.

Thanks for sharing Potato and continued success to you.

bb

I have noticed that my posts are the posts on every single thread these days. I am going to stop posting for a little while because i am posting too much. By the way the reason for this is because next week I am starting an intensive business math class that requires me to be there every day. I am nervous about this and hope that my new career direction is a good desicion . I especially hope that I will not get drunk and miss a day!!!!. I still take my pill one hour before any alcohol and I am happy with everything in my life as far as the Sinclair method is concerned. But it is still work. For example. There is all kinds of changes that need to be made that the pill cannot do. If you always drank after a certian thing you have to come up with something new to do otherwise. It is work. You have to work on changing old routines. Like changing all the old triggers. You may not feel like drinking but if you put yourself into the same situations your brain will take you there. I was amazed the other day when I had a few glasses of wine at my moms and I did not smoke any cigarettes how the next day I woke up and I still felt like I smoked tons of cigs! Wierd. It is the brain making associations it is used to. So I am saying it works but you have to work too. You will not outrun your ghosts no matter what you do. The method does the dirty work for you though!!!

Yeah - I had to drop out for awhile too. Been busy trying to jump start my social life LOL (details elsewhere) - but kinda bummed w/ this method & absolutely no changes. Altho - in the last couple of days after I took Nal, I actually was thinking ehhhh about drinking. But once I got home, not enough to say to myself or realize "Ya know what? I don't feel like drinking!"

It is a habit, and you're right, Potato, something you/I/we/need to consciously think about trying to break the triggers...and it's soooooo hard!!!
