Robert,

It's all good. Suggest reading RV9s post here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=167
and consider what he's stated prior to posting.

Note: I read this as a set of very good guidelines for posting in this venue. Remember, most of us here are patients of The Sinclair Method. As such, this is not a good place to debate The Sinclair Method. This really is our support system.

Hi RR,

May I make a suggestion that I believe will help you to be a real 'support member' of this group? I believe that's what you desire. All of us are hoping to be among the 78% or so of alcoholics who respond positively to pharmacological extinction. Hoping desperately, in most cases. Most of us are still in the early stages of this journey. As we get 4, 5, 8 weeks of working this method, we begin to question, "Is it working for me?"

No one can answer that question at that point of the journey - not even you. This works differently for different people. Chances are still very good that it IS working, but more time is needed for the process to be complete. While our experience of drinking may - or may not - have changed somewhat, for many of us who have been long-time, heavy drinkers it will require 4-6 months of Nal+drinking before we can make an accurate evaluation of our success. Dr. Eskapa is adamant about this. He, after all, is the resident expert here on the subject.

So I would ask that you refrain from making comments or drawing conclusions or quoting studies that are in any way counter to this philosophy. Use your intellect to discover and share news that will encourage the individual members who are experiencing fear and doubt. Anything that might detract from someone's personal faith in the process - and yes, faith is required for one to keep on practicing TSM for months b/4 experiencing measurable results - is counter to the primary purpose of this Message Board. And that is the reason your posts have drawn such ire.

I know your heart is in the right place. . .now, if you will follow suit with your head. . . ;)

Ok, here's a more full story about the picture. There are a lot of pictures out on the web of me staring seriously into the camera. I talk about a lot of serious topics, and when pressed I can come down pretty hard regarding poorly understood and controversial topics. As you may have noticed.

The "bird on the head" picture is a photo of me with a wild sparrow on my head. I raised it from a nestling and later released it back into the wild. It's an extension of the idea "If you get nervous on stage, image your audience in its underwear". Except I doubt many of you would really want to see me in my underwear. I put that up because I need people to challenge what I say. I don't want anybody to consider me so much of an authority that they shouldn't think for themselves. I don't always have to be right, but I do have a need to get down to which information is the correct or incorrect, ESPECIALLY if my side is the incorrect one.

Yes, Goin4More, I do get what you're saying there. It's an important change in perspective for me. Thank you.

How could I possibly post a picture like that without having a sense of humor?

BTW, my wife is threatening to take pictures of me in my skivvies and post them. Yikes!

Of course there was an instigator in the background for G4M's post, couldn't help it. It is so wonderful to have such a willing accomplice

And, here's how RR and his three closest buddies (he doesn't acknowledge the fourth guy) relieve their stress after an intellectually challenging day. . .remember, he's from Denver, CO. Real cowboy country!

Totally laughing here. My wife actually got me my first pair of boxers earlier this year, but I'm really more of the fedora type than the stetson type.
