Wow after one very innocent post over at soberrecovery.com, I got banned and my IP address blocked.

All I posted was a very brief overview of my TSM journey.

These guys are pretty closed minded.

What do you think of pm ing the moderator and asking why? But you can't do that if you're banned, can you?

They said in the rules they would never ban without warning and explaining why.

I suppose Eddie Haskell is thriving.

Do you think they'll find him here, then ban him there?

Looks like Bob flew under the radar. Not only was I banned, but my one and only post was deleted.

I tried to PM the moderator, but:
Sorry , You Can't Send a PM until You Have 5 Posts.
Please contact the administrator if you require assistance.

It's not really worth my time. I've seen community leaders/moderators like this before -- it's called tyranny. Pity really. It is a typical: Cut off your nose to spite your face mentality.

:(

Lena -
I share your frustrations, to some extent w/ a teenaged daughter. I am so behind you "ignoring" much of what she says, or at least not trying to get into a discussion w/ her. Kids this age are experts on just about every subject and mostly the arguments of their friends influence them. Or their friends' parents - but not you too much. At least not now. Of course this will pass...I loved her comment about Joan Kennedy: "constitutionally incapable of self-governance"?? Whoa - she ain't dumb now that's fer dang sure! LOL

But I understand your "alarm" - it will be ok. She's pushing the envelope & trying to find her way. Luckily your ex didn't make sure they knew you were an alcoholic...ugh, damage control is so annoying.

I will have to check out this "soberrecovery" site - sounds like a creepy place!

Talk about utter hypocrisy and downright dishonesty! They violate their own rules against "advertising," "agendas," "medical advice," and other such things, since a line at the bottom of each forum in small print reveals that: "The SoberRecovery Forums are operated under a grant from The Mulligan Group." Going to http://mulligangroup.com/ we discover that "The Mulligan Group provides marketing, financial and compliance services to the addiction treatment industry. Our industry- leading products and services include SoberRecovery®, the largest source of referrals to treatment centers with over 130,000 clients served every month. Mulligan also provides a complete service for new treatment facilities or existing firms that want to radically change their business model. "

Obviously, they don't want news of Naltrexone to change THEIR business model!

This is huge. I have some thoughts. I need time to think about this. This is a really big deal.

Very interesting... It's hard to say if SoberRecovery is being influenced by Mulligan Group, or there are simply some very closed minded moderators.

This site is no small operation. 57,000+ registered users is quite the community.

After some though, I may have been banned because of my username. I selected "QfromTSM" I tried to use my username here, but the forum over there would not let me use "~" in my username. Perhaps they through there was some kind of official TSM treatment facility and I was from that facility trying to promote it.

Ironically I found the following here: http://www.soberrecovery.com/articles/1118.html

"In more recent studies it has been demonstrated that the use of naltrexone while the Alcoholic continues to drink can result in extinction of the neurochemical addiction. Referred to as the "Sinclair Method", this technique is used with good results some US states and in Finland but has failed to penetrate much of the world because of the long-standing bias against any treatment that doesn't involve Detoxification and abstinence."

And this:

"Although it has long been argued that Alcoholic dependents cannot learn to drink in moderation, research by the U.S. National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) indicates a small percentage of individuals in the US whose dependence began more than one year earlier are now drinking in moderation. In contrast, a high percentage who undergo naltrexone use-reduction therapy are capable of normal drinking habits. Use of Naltrexone involves taking the medication an hour before any drinking occurs in order to maintain this".

I decided to give this site one more shot under the username "string". My post can be found here:

Basically, this is a repackage of my weekly progress thread.
