CANADIAN - DON'T QUIT NOW!!!! DON'T QUIT NOW!!!

Look, you've got a lotta religious baggage (been there, done that). Believe me, God is NOT judgeing you. He (she :) ) WE love you and want to see you succeed at this.

Let's just pretend that God really does love and accept you. Let's just pretend that He wants you to be free of this demon. Let's just pretend this is a (the) way that He has provided for setting some of His beloved prisoners 'free.' It's a simple process. Just take the little pill one hour b/4 you drink. How hard is that?

Let's just do it.

OK? For Him? For us?

It's a shame to lose a nice guy like that! I wish he would give it a chance.

I'm a religious person and have no problem with utilizing modern medication and methods for treatment. Perhaps his faith precludes self-help.

Well, I hope he returns.

it has nothing to do with my faith, or lack there of.

i just find that the nal gives me a negative outlook on things. it seems to bring me down, and gets me anxious for no reason. when i look at the numbers that you people post it makes me think things can work, but i cannot see myslef going for so long in a depressed state. and as for depression, i tried them all, the last was paxil, and i hate those meds.

if i could only get a job and get out, or even work from home. i know i have mentioned i have a saskatoon orchard, but there is more to life than simply watching my trees

need to drop my other computer off as it froze up form some virus. i removed all my anti viral programs to see how long it would take.

so anyways, i thank you for the encouragement, i will see tonight how i am feeling, as i hate that feeling of being so alert and drunk. it is scary.

i just do not know.

Please give it some thought over multiple days, so as not to make a rash decision.

If this in fact the answer, it would be a great waste to have missed out on actually being cured.

Think of all the things to look forward to, once you are alcohol-free. That keeps me going in times of doubt. I am sorry I cannot relate to clinical depression since I am the opposite, clinically manic, but the manic side of me makes me want to switch and try a new method all the time. Fortunately, the depressants and Paxil do work for me enough to remain functional enough to know better. I have made the choice to stick with this for 6 months. At the end of that time, if it has not worked, I will try something else. The important thing is NEVER GIVE UP.

thank you for the encouragement. i just cannot keep up the false fasode of my depression, for such a long time.

even last night when i did not take a nal i hade the effects of it from the day before.

to day though, i have had my usual hang over and after coffee and lunch, i feel better and not so critical thinking all the time.

although i do have to admit i went way longer yesterday not drinking, cause i told my self i was not going to have a nal.

whatever.

Regardless, my friend, please at least give your decision a few days of thought. This decision will affect your life. It's well worth the time to mull it over.

Thanks.

Canadian...Remember when you said that? Right now you are in your first week...yes, the buzz is going to be way down. Yes, you may experience some mild side affects as you get used to the medication. Some people experience lower moods - I promise you it is not as bad as Topa and is temporary, unlike Topa (Topa depression lasts for as long as you are on it and gets worse).

But - what you are experiencing these first few days is your body adjusting to perhaps less alcohol and a new medication in your system. The side affects go away with this medication - your mood will go back to normal. The buzz will not be as strong as before but it is still lurking there and the feelings after you drink return a bit more as you go through the program. Also as you go through the program your desire for that buzz just magically starts to fade. You are not there yet - please don't stop. Go back (when you are sober) and re-read your beginning posts - try to remember why you wanted this to work.

It will work for you but you have to give it a few weeks to adjust...and then a few more weeks for the cravings to start going away...and along the way we will be here for you.

I hope you go back to the Nal...I think you need the help, as we all do here. Take the help...please. Get better...that buzz you are feeling right now is temporary, false happiness...it's the snake in the garden whispering to you.

I jump on here too and IMPLORE you, Canadian - to keep taking NAL!!It is not causing your depression!! Booze and the state of life are...PLEEEEZZZ keep taking NAL - look at the reactions of your friends and family. A good life lies ahead. PLease - stay the course. You are so early in the game. Just take that pill one hour before and keep posting your every little thought and feeling here. IT HELPS!!! This is your space - do with it what you will.

Let me also say I went to an incredibly cool awards ceremony for my son tonight and the keynote speaker had the usual inspirational things to say, but it was more just a list of positive things to remember in these trying times. Directed primarily to 18 yr olds., included things like "Don't give up chocolate/Don't sweat the small stuff/ pay off your credit cards every month/ try to laugh everyday and too many more to list here...all very trite and heard before, but for some reason, just being reminded to take every day as it comes, was good.

Canadian - don't fall on your sword!!! Keep on doing this method because it just may be the easiest thing you have ever done to get your life back and the attention and respect of the people who love you more than you can imagine - don't give up!!

Keep posting because are here for you, are in the same boat afloat & CARE!!!

Canadian,

You aren't giving this a chance at all - WOW, I thought I was impatient, but you take the prize! We are all here to support you, and it's obvious we want you to hang in there. You CAN do this, but it certainly won't work if you have such unrealistic expectations. Results don't come overnight! If you will keep trying, we will never desert you.

However, please don't criticize or complain without putting forth a little effort. When you ask about "where are the studies", etc. - DUDE! Did you even READ the book? :o

Also, when someone reports that their units have gone up, they're certainly not "bragging" - on the contrary, they are sharing their unique, and sometimes disappointing experience with us. The journey will include ups and downs, moments of joy and sorrow. The point is, there is no "right way" to go through TSM. Everyone's path will be different, just as it is with life. Sometimes it's great, and sometimes it sucks - but still life is good overall, and it's absolutely worth living. If you want to give up, then do it. We hope to convince you that TSM is worth pursuing. Even anti-depressants, etc. take a while to start working (often 6-8 weeks!), and side effects are to be expected at first. Just stick with it before throwing in the towel so quickly.

We are here to give each other encouragement, not to trash TSM or personally attack anyone. Please respect that. I wish all the best for you, and I hope you'll stay with us. :?:
