Hope - it is really good to have a few days off - and if you are anything like Jaba, then the memory of this will stay with you for a LONG time and you will hopefully not repeat it. I have only had a few Nal Overs and they were not as wicked as yours or Jaba's ! Glad that you are on the mend ....feel better,

Hugs, Maggie x

Hope,

Anytime you feel like you need an AF day, take it. Yesterday is a prime example as to why you actually should, for I do think you could drink if you wanted to (at least I know I couldn't). I could not do an af day unless it was from an nal over in the beginning. If it is nice out do something fun like walk in the park, or shopping. You will want to stay home and recover, but going out will make you feel better, just don't over do it.

Believe it, or not, I had 2 really bad nal overs and then a third mini one, so you can say I am a slow learner. And that is one of the reasons I now stop at three glasses of wine. The mini one was after I had about 1/2 of bottle, and I wasn't sick as a dog, but I knew if I kept on drinking the night before it would have been one. I think your body/brain on nal can only handle so much alcohol and then the nal revolts and makes you sick.

I am glad you are doing better, try to have something with electrolytes in it like gatorade, for it will help.

Jaba

Hey chic I'm actually feeling well enough to do some ironing !! Definately feeling better than first thing this morning !!

My worry is what if I can't stop again ?? If I'm out I find it easy ....also if I don't have it in the house. But how do I stop myself bingeing like this weekend ??

How long do you think it could be before the Nal takes effect again ?? And if I have a few days off Nal will it leave my system ??xxxx

Hope,

I guess you recover faster than I ever did...to be young again!

TSM is a process and unfortunately a hard process for some. You will be able to stop, but you will have to work on it until you brain accepts that "ah moment" isn't going to come. Everyones experience is different, so I cannot tell you when things will change for you; however, that doesn't mean you cannot force your intake down and give yourself a limit.

You can drink any amount for TSM to work, you just have to be exposed to the environment that you usually drink and what you usually drink. So, if you can stop under 3 glasses of wine, or under 3 mixed drinks it would keep you from having a nal. over and feeling like crap for a day. Doing that is hard at first but does get easier with time.

Right now you brain is refusing to believe that it is not going to get that "ah moment", so it will trick you into drinking more. BUT, if you slow down your drinking (sips not gulps) and drink water in between those glasses, the chances are you will not experience a binge again.

Hope, is that your normal party habits? I am just asking, not judging. Habits are the things that the book does not cover, for you will have to distinguish between habit and cravings.

Did someone or you constantly refill your glass? If so, switch to a bottled water after every drink and let people know that you cannot party like you used to anymore. Tell them you are getting to old for it, or the next day you feel awful and it's not worth it (which is the truth).

Did you lose count? Make it a habit to measure and count every time. Get a white board with magnets for your refrigerator (I used to have one to but my grocery list on), and when you are having a party start a tally. No one but you (or your BF) needs to know what those lines mean.

If you can, tell you BF about your count, and tell him that you never want to feel like yesterday again, maybe he can remind you that one more drink will not be worth it.

I had to do that with my husband, for there are still times when I want more (it does get easier, but habits die hard). And I will get mad and aggravated with him, but he is only doing what I asked him to do.

If you need to have something in your hand (like a drink) when you are having or at a party switch to a water in your hand, for your brain doesn't care whats in your hand and with taking the nal. it really doesn't care that your are drinking water. That hand to mouth without thinking when you are socializing is probably what got you in trouble, so carrying around water instead of a drink will help a lot.

Some people (Tamtam comes to mind) prefer not to have alcohol in the house, it is okay until you feel you are in control.

I think you mean the time for you to have control or "cure" which is uncertain. If you are lucky, 3-4 months, but there have been some it has taken over a year, I looked back on my progress and it was about 13-14 weeks when I felt a big difference. If you are talking about with your next dose before you drink, 1 hour to 90 minutes before your next drink.

Taking a day off will give your brain some rest and you will be able to experience some of those endorphins, so do something that will feel good (exercise, walking, sex, etc). For the nal to be completely out of your system it is about 3 days, but it would be depending on your metabolism. I have a slow metabolism so it takes about 5 days before I notice a difference.

I am so glad that you are feeling better, and I am so sorry this is so long...I get carried away at times.

My dearest jabba , I am so lucky to have met you and I appreciate every single word you write !!

To be honest I'm not a party girl these days . If I go out with the girls I'm always the first home and never have to much. My problem is always the day after a heavy ish night. If I feel slightly rough I hair of the dog it . The trouble is once I start I don't stop and I can drink the house dry (although I usually end up tipping it before I drink ).

This weekend was a prime example. It's the first heavy night I've had in months ! And the day after ....you know how that ends !!
In terms of telling my partner. I can set a limit for sure. But when I try talking about my alcohol problem he just gets angry and clams up. Not much help xxxx

I hate hearing that about your partner, is there are reason for that?

You will be able to stop, but you will have to slow down your drinking (the slower the better). It is just a matter of time for TSM to kick in.

Trust in method and always follow that golden rule and it will be just a matter of time.

Jaba

Weird , I posted a post but it's not here ??

I was just saying he is a kind generous thoughtful man in many ways. He just has a problem showing emotion or at least expressing it!

We bought 2 bottles of vodka and 2 Bacardi back from holiday in June (I begged him not to buy as I knew what would happen ) well...they are now gone so I should be ok cxx
