My opinion is that if it isn't happening, you may have to force it. One day of not drinking never killed anyone. :) it may just be the push you need. See how it feels. You may be surprised and will definitely feel good about it the next day. It could help you get over that hump and be able to get more AF days in.

JanCan, I think you are right. The A/F days just weren't happening for me twelve weeks in, so I think this is a necessary step for me.

Whether you are A/F today or not, Maggie, you have done really well with two A/F days in a row. Congrats! If you go for three in a row, though, I am in your corner.

I am so happy you made it, Newlife. How do you feel about it today?

I was fine. I was busy, kept my water nearby, and really didn't think about it much. Had I not made this commitment, though, I would definitely had at least a couple of glasses of wine last night. I am starting to realize how much of my drinking is just habit.

I was just filling in my chart and saw that yesterday was actually day 3 AF - which surprised me as I had thought it was only day 2 - but I only fill it in the next morning so it must be right ! Good - but of course in my head now that I have had three AF days (still puzzled over that) I am thinking I can drink today - which is totally the wrong way to think!!

Maggie, I get what you are saying about wrong way to think but LOOK at how well you are doing.

Deena: I feel great about it actually, and it really wasn't that hard. The reward was all the energy I had in the evening once I made it over the hump to ask my kids about school, help my oldest go through some plays searching for an audition monologue, figure out a technical problem I was having with iTunes (AND I FIGURED IT OUT!!), etc. etc.

I am feeling bad about calling Steve a Drama Queen. Hope his silence doesn't mean he is mad at me. Thinking he really was sick.......sorry!!

Hi all - I thought I had posted on this thread but apparently not! :roll: I did join you all for an AF day yesterday (3 AF days for me this week!! - a world record in my books).

Now I have changed my mindset, it actually wasn't that hard. I don't actually crave alcohol - but just feel like I'm at a loose end. Last night I drank so much (non alcohol stuff) - lime and soda, then I had a couple of pints of water, then I brought this Aloe Vera juice whilst I was shopping (never had it before - very weird, like drinking juice with lumps of jelly in it! :lol: ) and drank that, then had a cup of tea. My husband, who sipped one beer the whole evening said 'are you really that thirsty?'

I'm not sure if I naturally need a lot to drink (I've always drunk quite a few pints of water during the day) and that's why I struggle to stop when I drink wine - or whether I'm drinking gallons to replace the habit :?

When is the next group AF planned?

When I was in college my college had no classes on Wednesday. We called it Wonderful Wednesday.

Yesterday I had the radical thought that maybe we should declare EVERY Wednesday WHY NOT Wednesday, and AF. However the thought of it made me squirm so I am not sure if I want to suggest it or not. Squirming probably means I need it the most.

HI ALL,

I survived! I didn't scream this morning and my headache is a dull pain. Its almost as if there is something missing, it's hard to describe...like being in the pool all day and feeling like you are still floating. I am most definitely going to push through and try to do 3 af days this week. My husband is out of town until Friday night late, so I can go to bed as early as I want (he has energy like you Maggie and gets by on 5-6 hours of sleep).

I think Newlife has a great idea! I hated trying to do af days on friday (like the book suggested) so I alway tried to strive for Monday but it only happened if I had a nal. over. But trying to have a group af day once a week (even if it is just one day) sounds great. I knew I wasn't alone (misery loves company) and it really helped.

Great job snap...I hope to claim the same at the end of the week.

My question for everyone that is following is:

Do you find after a af day/days your drinking units increase the next couple of days?


I know in the past mine have and then I would get another nal. over.

Have a great endorphin rush,
