Potato,

So sorry - I know how those hangovers suck! :x I'm sure it was the 'celebration' of being done with the math class that did you in. I would have done the same thing, and probably will - again and again, until that type of trigger finally gets squashed! You're doing great - no worries. Just feel better, and take care. Tomorrow is a new day! :D

Don't forget, even normal drinkers get plastered on occasion. Drink your water with a touch of sea salt (for hydration), and take a nice warm relaxing bath. We'll see ya tomorrow!

Thanks both of you. Also thanks for the tip about water and sea salt. Never thought of that. I've been drinking wheat grass juice and eating watermelon. Worked out tons lately but am super wiped out from it now. I bought a pair of these special shoes called MBT shoes and my legs are really sore. They work out your legs and butt like crazy. It feels like your walking barefoot on sand. They are very interesting. Your whole body gets a workout. Well I took my pill an hour ago and having wine now. We'll see where this goes. All the best to you. :)

Just a check in post. I want to mention that in this month so far I have had alcohol on the 3rd, the 8th and today, the 13th. The 8th was excessive but not "majorly excessive" . I got really nauseous today after taking my Nal which is strange because it has been a long time since I had any adverse effects from Nal. I wonder if it has anything to do with my cleansing regiemes. Or possibly it has something to do with my new infrared sauna use. Whatever the case may be, I found it suprising. It took around an hour to feel better. I always say to myself that it would be better maybe if I never drank at all but then I get super bored and lonely and no one is around so I end up drinking then being mad at myself for it after. Then I go through the same thought process again and frankly am getting tired of myself. I registered for a really cool school program today in industry sales and economics and supposedly it is very demanding so I will hopefully be able to handle it and have the energy to get through the eight months of it without booze getting in the way! Life is ok right now and I workout everyday and do all the things that the book tells me to do so I will keep going and have faith that my occasional bad days are just relics of the past and that I stand in a good place thanks to the Sinclair method. Best wishes and success to all others doing this. :D :o

Oh yeah for got to mention that this is now my tenth month on the method. So I am coming up to one year soon. It is going to be quite an assessment I think. I started October 6th 2008. It is written on my calendar so that is kinda cool. I will have to go back and think about all that has happened. I know one thing already, and that is that since I started I have not had any broken bones, maybe one or two alcohol related negative phone calls, and have been through a friend's death and helped my parents move and put my dad into a care home and many other major things in the past year and through it all the method has helped me handle it with grace. That is a gift.

Potato, thanks for sharing. I hope you do well on your exam. Sounds like you have a full plate. I agree that even "normal" drinkers sometimes overindulge so don't be too hard on yourself. On the whole, you are doing great and I envy your progress!

On a side note, what do you think about the MBL (sp?) shoes? I work out regularly but with the kids home all summer it's been hit and miss. I was wondering if the shoes really lived up to their claim.

Thanks for posting your experiences -- many of us are looking to you for inspiration to keep going with TSM. Well, at least I am.

Doing well. Just checking in. Have done better in June and July than I have in years. I used to get loaded all the time in the summer but I just looked at my calendar and in both months I had alcohol on 5 days per month. I just noticed this and am suprised and happy. On some of those days. I believe 3 out of 10 were what I would consider too much. This is interesting because before TSM I used to drink 10 to twelve days a month. It is now half of that and much less on most of those occasions. I could never see this progress with a hangover. I do now. I want more improvement but I guess I should be happy with what I have accomplished. I think there is still room for improvement since I take so few pills a month now. We shall see what happens. All the best to those on this road with me. :D

Tater,

I, of course, like many others on this site, have followed your progress with great interest. However, in your last post, I was surprised to learn that pre-TSM you "only" drank 1 out of 3 days.

Can you confirm this is the case? I always thought you were a daily drinker (like me) and that I could look to you as a "model" for my recovery.

I'm not getting discouraged, I just want to put your experience into perspective to what I have to face: 30+ years of daily drinking, usually 6+ units per day (except for 3 years in AA when I was abstinent but also bonkers).

Thanks for a reply,
Sante

Sante, If you read some of my earliest posts I always have been a binge drinker and never a daily drinker. This should not dissapoint you because in Dr Eskapa's book about the method he addresses both. I was a serious binge drinker tho who used to break bones on a regular basis and tons of horrible things happened because of my previous drinking. If you wish to see some of the daily drinkers successes there are many of them here. They just started the method later than me. I belive there are a few of them who are doing very well on the method. I believe some have declared victory. I did drink one out of three days in the beginning because I was so hungover and sick I could not drink. Bear in mind that when I drank before the method I often did so to the point of poisoning and at times hospitilization. I am incredibly happy and thankful for what the method has done for me. If I had been a daily drinker I would not be writing this post because I am pretty sure I would be not on this Earth. I hope you got some kind of help from my experience regardless of our differences. I wish you the best. :) .
