Maggie,

I am so sorry people had an issue with you taking AB for your AF days, and I do hope that I wasn't one of those people. I would hope I never made you feel that way, for I do believe we have to figure out how to get to the other side and what works for us to get there.

I do not see how it could hurt, for it is more of a mind thing. Sure the AB made your stomach upset which could stop you from drinking (however it never stopped me, for would drink regardless), but it was an AF day that you needed and that is all that really mattered.

nzspeak, Please be careful, for you may be having one heck of a honeymoon period. One person on here had a honeymoon period that lasted a couple of months to the point he put his name on the cured list, and then the honeymoon stopped and his intake increased. I am not saying your progress isn't true and won't continue; I am just saying to be cautious. However, I am very happy to hear that you are doing great.

Jaba

Your quite right Jaba- I used poor wording- I certainly don't consider myself cured.

"when I mentioned on here that I was taking the AB, I had quite a few people having issues with that" There are AA zealots, anti-antabuse zealots, all kinds, your never going to change them so just ignore them. When I see people who've been on the board for 9 months and they still haven't had an AFD day- why not give it a go? I would love to see a study of Nal non-responders who took Antabuse for some enforced AFD days and the results.

I imagine some of the antabuse haters were 'forced' to take it by their partners or whatever and had some bad experiences or more likely are just anti it intellectually because it's not a 'lovey dovey' treatment.

Thank you nzspeak - I actually thought about going back and seeing if I could find what was said to me - but think it almost like looking for a needle in a haystack - I have a LOT of posts! LOL. Thank you though for your kind words - it is appreciated ! Maybe one day when I have plenty of time I might do that .....

Hugs, Maggie x

nzseak,

The reason people had an issue with anyone on TSM taking antabuse (AB) is because nothing in TSM should be forced. If you are not ready for an AF day you are not ready, so the theory is to continue to take your pill, wait that hour, and drink.

I think you really need to find what works for you. If AB works for you and Maggie who am I to place judgement (or anyone for that matter). I think by nine months if I had difficulties having an AF day I would probably need one desperately, for there really is something to be said about being nal free and alcohol free.

By the way I didn't think in that post you were thinking you were cured, and I just wanted you to be aware that honeymoons for some people can last a long time. I didn't want you to be discouraged if your intake increases, for it scared me when it happened.

I think it is wonderful that you are doing so well (actually I am tickled pink for you).

Keep up the good work, and keep us posted,

Jaba

"The reason people had an issue with anyone on TSM taking antabuse (AB) is because nothing in TSM should be forced" true but after 9 months of Sinclair not working, and no AFD's, then perhaps aantabuse may help. As I said in my post-what harm could it do? I'm not sure it would definitely work that's why I loved to see a study on it.

Jaba I thought you've always said that your AFD's didn't come naturally- you had to use a bit of will power/force?
