I've never heard of any physical aches from the Nal, but I have heard of and experienced having a short temper on it. But, it's hard to say if it's really because of the Nal or a side effect of not drinking. I know from my quitting-smoking days, even if you're not craving it or seeming to think of it, your subconscious can get a little testy when you're not performing a deeply set habit.

In other news: WINE AND TONIC? I can't imagine what that would taste like. If that's all I could drink, I'd never drink again!

Guido:

I haven't heard of the back aches, but I have back issues so that is more the norm for me.

Re the shorter temper, I have definitely experienced that too. But I attribute it not to the nal per se, but rather to the adjustment of learning to deal with life when I am a lot more sober/aware. Drinking was used to numb all that, now I have the challenge of figuring out how to deal with things that may not be fun and not turn into a total b---.

I don't know if that helps.

Glad your SEs lessened, though. Sounds like you have really cut down your consumption right away, and good for you!!

Keep posting and NAL ON!! Newlife

Hi!

Congrats on the success!!

I have noticed even after one full dose that I am a little more sensitive to things overall.
"Snappy" feeling annoyed.

The trouble is, It's hard to tell what is really going on because I have also signifigantly reduced alcohol in last four days. So I imagine my body is rebounding in all kinds of ways, ( I know so technical right?) lol.

My personal goal is to gain control and build new habits so both Nal and alcohol are a thing of the past. Support is very helpful obviously.

I have told a few close people to watch out for the dragon lady.

all the best!

Layla

I understand that body pains are quite normal as your body gets used to less of the anaesthetic that is alcohol, over time it should ease.

After reading your post, I remember that I too was a little short-tempered/snappy during my first months. It passes, and I forgot all about it.

Good news: I never could sleep either, and was always up in the middle of the night. Now that I've quit, I sleep like a baby, -the whole night through, -very night!

Update time:

I am very pleased with my progress while on Nal, I am on consistently down to a bottle or less of wine a day although I havent had any AF days as of yet, My roommate is pretty impressed at how Im doing, I drink less, I exercise more and Im eating better. I hope to keep progressing but even if I dont continue to drink less and less, I couldnt be more pleased.

I am still taking my dose at nite, which has caused me to miss a couple or few doses because I fall asleep early. I just wait till the next nite and take a regular dose, or in the alternative, if I wake up in the middle of the nite, Ill break the pill in half.

I am pretty impressed with the fact that if I go out to the bar/restaurant for a drink or dinner that I dont really care if I finish the drink in front of me. That would have NEVER happened a month ago lol.

Oh, also, I am losing a little weight, maybe under 5 lbs in the past month but still a loss.

I look forward to whats ahead. I am going to be ordering my new online order this week just to be sure I have it on hand when I need it, even though I already have a months supply on hand lol.

Best of luck and thanks for listening.

Guido

I have not quit drinking all together but I am drinking a helluva lot less than I was a month ago. I needed a minimum of 5 cases of wine a month to just squeak by at home. 2 bottles of wine a day. And I always go out twice a week for dinner and a bunch of drinks (usually 6 vodka and tonics each time). Now I am just about at 1 bottle of wine per day and 2-3 drinks max when I go out. I am amazed at how well Im doing. I still take my pill at nite because I was finding myself drowsy and didnt want to take them in the morning for that reason.

I am having such good luck Im a bit nervous about changing my routine of when I take my dose. I feel like a new person.
