Hi there Gd ... I drink as you do - I am a daily drinker, never get drunk or have too much - and like you I am getting impatient - but we all have to bow to the words of UKB here and just be patient and let the Nal do it's thing! We all want it to work NOW - but we have also all been drinking for a long time and this isn't going to work overnight. This past week for me was a disaster - but then I thought about it and I still had less than pre-Nal - so therefore it wasn't really a disaster - just a hiccough!!

Hang in there and let the Nal work - even if it takes two years, I plan on letting it work - and it will - I do have faith!!!! I was on another web site this morning and someone there commented that the Nal hadn't worked for her but I do not think she was prepared to wait the time - time goes on regardless so I shall keep on with the Nal!!

Hugs, Maggie x

You're doing great. My wine-drinking pattern is similar to what you described, and TSM is working for me. The fact that you noticed a difference right away is evidence that you are NOT a non-responder. (I believe some people can have no initial response but will still succeed on TSM- correct me if I'm wrong, anyone). It is extremely common to have a noticable response in the first week or first month, and then things kinda go "back to normal", followed by a slower decline in drinking over the following 6-12 months.

Hi SomeRandom.... thanks for your input - it really does help me to read things like the things that you wrote as I had a initial reduction but this past week things have been heading back to where I started, which I do not like - BUT as you said this can be common, I will try not to worry about it .... thanks,

hugs, Maggie x

UKBlonde- thanks for pointing out the importance of actively reducing alcohol intake once the cravings are curbed.
I am very much a 'doer' (well I was before descending into this dark space, anyhow), so I'm looking forward to taking those positive steps. I've just stocked up on some GABA, glutamine, Sam-E, Magnesium, and thyroid support, so hopefully those will help :)

SomeRandomScientist- phew, that is good to hear. I suppose there is still a possibility that I experienced some placebo effect those first two days, but I do think I detect a difference. I feel like it's easier to stop drinking at night when I'm tired, and I quite suddenly sober up. I've been in a very negative headspace for a while now, so after a very short lived endorphin rush, alcohol had already ceased to be fun, really. A few years ago I would feel high and happy the entire time I drank. Now, not so much. So I guess that is making the difference on Nal less discernible. Which, I guess, is both good and bad? It might take longer than I hoped, but it might also be easier than I anticipated.

Maggie- are you recording your progress on the board as well? I love hearing how others are getting on. Hugs to you, too :D

Hi Gd - yes I am recording my progress on the board - under:

viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4023 ....

Not sure if that link will work but it is under Maggie1929 Progress and the odd question !! In fact I am sort of having an odd week and am about to post over there right now !! Although not sure if there is the right place to post or if I should start a new thread .... hhmmm.

Hugs, Maggie x

Gd - please let me know if the GABA, glutamine and other supplements help you. Have others had experience with these? Would love to hear. Newlife

Newlife, Gaba and magnesium are helping me sleep and feel more calm & at peace. They both are worthwhile investments.

Newlife- neither is a miracle, but I would say I feel a bit more at ease. I'm a very high-strung person, so any improvement is welcome here!

Well I've been at this for about 3 weeks, now! I haven't noted but a slight reduction in my intake, but I have not been tracking. I'll get that sorted this week! I have been very consistent with waiting the full hour, and I'm more committed than ever to this. So I am anxiously waiting for results! I got food poisoning last week and had 4 AF days. Not a real win... but hey, I'll take what I can get! Granted that I was sick- I found myself wondering what is so great about alcohol? I think I'll begin stringing together 3 AF days fairly soon... Just to see how it goes.
