It is a necessary part of the process to have to repeat info for "newbies." I'm not a moderator on MWO but I started weekly Sinclair threads and a permanent Sinclair thread, and SpringerRider had one on Eskapa's book. We both always included the Shrinkrap podcast link of the Sinclair interview. My anchor post there is found here as "Sinclair in a Nutshell: A Lay Person's Perspective" on the FAQ section of this board. N101CS, SpringerRider, myself and others spent countless hours putting up info and debating skeptics endlessly. The TSM threads were hot for several months until baclofen was the topic of about the first thirty threads. Some kind soul over there would find our old threads and bump them for those seeking naltrexone/TSM info when none of us had been on top of things over there. They also are good at directing people to this board. We have several registered here from MWO who just would drop in to offer support when we first started up. It takes far more time than I have to stay on top of that boardand this one so I've faded over the months. Lo0p cannot do it by himself no matter how little he sleeps! Happy4Once used to get over there but I don't know if she's still doing it. So, if anyone has time if you could get over to MyWayOut.org and check for posts by those seeking TSM info and direct them over here, that would be a great way to share. It doesn't take long on a board that huge for mis-info to creep in. And baclofen, while positively miraculous, has not proven the panacea it once was thought to be. So if we can get info to folks there looking for a way out of their alcohol addiction, it would be great to do so. It never was our intention to "abandon" our MWO pals by starting this board!

As a hopeless newbie myself, I take offense Lo0p. Namely the "hopeless" tag. I have been a member of MWO for quite a while now and found my way here from there. I have spent months researching MWO, Dr. A, TSM and find the boards so full of information that when one has a specific question, it is hard to trudge through all the information to get your answer. Now, of course, once you join in and spend more time here it becomes easier but NEWBIES are often just that - new and desperately seeking information. If you don't want to answer questions, don't but remember that you were new once too. I think it's very brave of anyone new to these forums to post a question.

These are actually the first forums I have ever participated in and finding your way around to an unexperienced person is a daunting task. Even figuring out how to post, search, etc.

Your experience is invaluable and just might be saving a hopeless newbies life :!: These forums are not some old boys club.

I spent one day at MWO and found a link to this site and have rarely been back. When I have gone back, I've found it pretty overwhelming to try and navigate -- and their search function is really confusing compared to TSM -- so kudos to all of you who designed the TSM site! I also haven't participated in many forums before, so that might be part of my problem (as well as the fact that I'm barely computer literate :? )

I'm tired of reading posts by hopeless newbies and don't have the time to respond to all of them so I started a thread for basic info on TSM. Unfortunately my initial post was so complete I don't know what else to write about to bump it. Will you help me keep it near the top?

Claremont, I spend over an hour every night PM'ing 'hopeless newbies' over at MyWayOut after reading their intros. It's a daunting task but I do it anyway. Yes it is "tiring" but I do it anyway. I will never forget where I came from.

I'm just trying to find a way to maximize my efficiency over there because I can't keep sending private messages to people forever.

As for the 'hopeless' tag it is usually how they describe their own situation. It is exactly how I felt the day that I got out of the psych ward and just happened upon the wiki for TSM out of sheer luck.

Lo0p - I know you spend a lot of your personal time here and we all appreciate it. I have had responses from you myself when I have reached out. However - Newbie doesn't need a tag as we often use it as a derogatory term to try and humorize our newness (hopelessness, uselessness, etc. Afterall does it not mean inexperienced?) and if you insist on one, how about HOPEFUL instead of Hopeless?

Just thinking that some might feel shy to be labelled and it may steer them away from actually reaching out when they need it most.

Instead of personally responding to all your PMs I would assume that you are now directing them to your thread? Good idea.

Peace out.
