When I started Nal I was rather turned off by smoking, I think it would be a good time to stop (and it was not too appealing) , unless you simply must use the tobacco as a stress reducer. And you will feel better too, both physically and your will have a mental boost. Do what you can, and best of luck to you.

By the way I have a pm from you about smoking cessation, but it did not have any content, maybe you pressed some wrong buttons???? No biggie, welcome and lots of good energy to you ! :P

Eskapa says that a secondary finding of Sinclair's studies shows that nal is not effective for smoking cessation, probably because it is not reinforced by endorphins. However, TSM with the use of a blocking agent aimed at nicotine receptors rather than nal should be equally effective for tobacco addidiction. Eskapa, 166, 181-185. We have anecdotal reports from members of our community that the smoking urge is reduced w/ nal. I've noticed this tends to be our binge drinkers who mainly smoke just when they drink.

BOREDOM

Regarding the smoke, that is exactly how I felt for many days,
GO WITH IT AND STOP SMOKING!

Allow your self the luxury of the "side effect"

Then let's discuss boredom. I think that's a big reason I drink too. I will try to start a thread about that, but not right now.

If "they" declared smoking was no longer bad for you and if the other "theys" weren't disgusted by it, I would go back to smoking in a NY minute. I got hooked on Nicorette for a long time then just gave it up too. It kills me how I can give up stuff that is supposedly "the hardest addiction"...yet can't with my beloved chardonnay. I kneel at the altar of TSM.. & sending up kneemails!!! LOLOLOL

Welcome Canadian! Sorry to get silly on your post here - we get a bit strung out sometimes.

W2E & I will have to talk about this oral thing in another thread...ROTFL

well, it was an interesting night to say the least.

first, an hour after i took the magic pill i had a drink
felt funny, cause i had no desire to drink it
i almost had to force myself, really.

the usual buzz was not there.
no good feelings after the drink,
1/2 glass vodka and half glass water. big glass.

forgot about having the second, was just got bored.
after all these years, i usually just watch tv and chat with family as they pass
through my tv world, the grand room.

wife seemed a bit on edge, never told her yet.
usually she talks about work, and i get silly and make fun
of her employees and we banter back and forth

last night was different. i was not interested in her work
maybe it was her, who knows.

poured the second, sat and watchd tv and forgot about the drink

felt a bit dizzy, and then forced myself to chug the 2nd.

got the drunkness, but no feelings i always get of pleasure.

wierd feeling.

phoned a friend, the only one i have, after all these years of drinking
he said i did not sound loaded.
i usually phone him when i am and talk for hours
and i usually cannot remember what was said, blackouts?

anyways, i had to go pick up my son from a schoool field trip,
driving was wierd. a little dizzy from the drug,
BUT MY LISTENING (HEARING) was so CLEAR!!!!!
there was no dozing off, remarkable!

my audio was turned on high, it usually goes num,
and feel the need to just tune people and shows out.

ended up having the 3rd, i poured it, but cannot remember having it.

as for sleep, went to bed drunk again, and had a good sleep.
woke at about 4 am for a pee, as usual, but then for the 1st time
i went back to bed and had a great sleep.

do not feel hung over at all this morning. WOW:)

lastly, the pharmacist said it was the first time he gave it out in his 30 yrs.
he gave me some printed stuff, and seemed confused about what to tell me.
the usual printouts, but no oral direction.

he had to special order it. he said someone had asked about it a while back but he
did not know anything about it.

i did not tell him about the SM yet, will drop off the web address for him.
the more people get informed about this the better.

anyways that is my 2 cents worth.

i did find that i could not even finsih half of my mcdonalds menthol cig
i did smoke like hell before i took the pill, anxiety i guess.

trusting all the information on here, and the SM site, builds up anxiety.

i noticed today that my liver is not tingling like it usually does.
pee was noticably yellower, but everything normal.

the kids seemd to interact normally, 8 & 10
both gifted in school, not on my account, even though i have a teaching degree.

I sure wish i would have tried this years ago. would have saved me a lot of pain
and saved a lot of pain for my family.

thanks for this forum.

my doctor took 20 minutes of reading in his books before he told me NO
then yes then No and then after promising to visit him in a week
he said yes. he did not tell me when to take the pill, nor the pharamsist.

into day TWO!

i am not keeping a log, i figure you guys will tell me what is going on.
i sure felt a decrease in the craving after i took the pill.

as for pleasure activites i have none. I retired at 45 3 years ago when
i sold my hotel, resort, rv park. Every job i apply for i do not get a call.
too much education and too much expereince in business must scare people aaway.

so, more internet i guess. getting tire of this too.

We're glad you're here! Remember, your drinking craving may go back up after a few days. The process for real results takes at least four months or so.
