I have been taking NAL for 2 1/2 months. I stopped recently because I have a surgery coming up this week and will need pain meds for several days. I have not stopped drinking, however my units are about the same as when I stopped the NAL. My question is when I resume the NAL, will I be starting from scratch or will I pick up where I left off?

IMO I'd say you will be starting somewhere in-between both. Some reinforment will have taken place but it will not be back to the same as day 0

ask Jim Clark. I believe he had a similar scenario a while back. check his thread or PM him. he's a very helpful cat. also, on the other side of the coin, check out BenTSM's experience on the subject. It might be in his thread or if not, you should check out his youtube channel anyways. Naltrexonenotgod is his handle on youtube and he's documented his journey in videos. the one about quitting Nal is entitled "a cautionary tale" he had a really bad experience that way. but he was a really hardcore drinker. really hardcore. but he bounced back to previous TSM levels quickly and last I heard from him he was down to like 3 beers a day. and this is a guy whp was constantly hospitalized for binges. so I would say be very careful, get off the pain meds as quick as you can, but if you get back on Nal promptly, all should not be lost

Edit: I found Ben's cautionary tale viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1630
