Does anyone know what Naltrexone costs in the U.S. if you pay cash instead of using insurance? I've been paying $100 for the Nodict out of India but if I can get an Rx, I'd rather buy it here as long as I can keep it out of my insurance records.

I just checked WalMart yesterday just for that reason. WalMart charges $90.00 for a 30 day supply. I figured no one would charge more than WalMart.

Where do you buy it for $1 per pill? The cheapest I've been able to find it is $165 for 100 pills, or $1.65 each. That is from alldaychemist.com. My first script came from River, and cost me $290 for 90 days' supply. Ugh! (Still cheaper than my monthly wine bill, tho!)

@Goin4More: I don't buy it for $1 per pill. That's what it costs if you walk into a pharmacy in India. I pay $100 per 30 from River. A ripoff but easy.

So alldaychemist is reliable?

I haven't used this company yet. I just e-mailed them from their site to ask what company manufactures their generic Naltrexone. So, we'll see. . .

Don't forget to factor in the $150 or so for the non-insurance m.d. visit.

BTW, odd thing about River: The price break is better at 200 than at 300 or 400. They gave me the 200 price when I ordered two/200's (a lifetime supply I hope).

Another fun fact: River shows naltrexone consistently as among the top ten searched drugs. It was not when I first joined MYO last December!

Good point on the MD expense. My SO is going to have his very accommodating physician double his script this next time, so I can get the Nal stateside.

It's encouraging that Nal is now a highly searched drug via River - means the word is getting out! Yay! I'm hoping this will become a grass roots movement, to the point where the medical establishment and rehab industry will have to accept it as mainstream treatment.

Without using my insurance for obvious reasons, I called several different pharmacies and asked their price for my 30 pills. The range was from $88 to $150. I wanted to use a drugstore where I had not filed for a prescription before and asked if they would match the competitors low price. After verifying the price I gave them as the low one, they did.

I felt so uncomfortable picking up my medication. I did not know the chain drug store would want my personal information and asked if I really had to give it. They said yes, so I fudged on most of it. I don't like doing that - it makes me feel so deceitful. I just can't afford losing my insurance or having rates increase.

The main thing though it that it helps considerably to shop it.

Good luck to you all. I read your posts daily and am so inspired by what you share with us. I am pleased with my first week. I do feel subtle- but very exciting and encouraging- changes.
