Nicorette worked for me. Have a friend who got a Rx for an opioid blocker (!!) and got it stopped in about 3 months; not sure how that would work w/ NAL...altho they operate on the same principal.

Good luck!

I try but everytime I drink I smoke. That ends up being ten cigs around 4 times a month. When I try to explain that to a doctor they just stare at me like I have 4 heads. It is so hard to explain how addiction comes in many forms and ways . Health care proffessionals don't know what to say if it is not in their regular realm. Anyway I would love to quit smoking but to do that I think I cannot drink either at all.

I was a three packer myself up until the time I had to quit in 96! It was a major anxiety producer for sure. It took me about two weeks of the most trying weeks of my life but then it got better. That was back in 96.
It really took a couple of months for that minute to minute craving. True adict, but I was borderline COPD.
I used nicorette first, got addicted to that, lol. I then went with herbal supplements that I got online from some doctor in the Midwest. After quitting, I wasn't drinking back then, I got healthy. Started exercising, running 6 miles every morning, joined a gym, etc. I was seeing a specialist for my lungs before that and using breathing machines in his office, etc. Soo, for even the very worst, smoking can be stopped. They say that Welbutrin is supposed to help. There is something new out there called something like Chantex, but I here it is a bit dangerous with side affects. Good luck, and hope this might help a bit.

I too have been considering this. In fact a few months before I started tsm I got an electronic cigarette to try and wean myself off. It worked untill my drinking escalated to a point that I didn't care to use it anymore. I think I'll dust it off soon!

I was a pack a day smoker for about 5 years. I quit by going cold turkey for about a week, then using a piece of nicotiene gum whenever I had a strong craving from there out. A year later I still chew a piece in the morning before hitting the gym for it's beneficial effect on testosterone aromitization and speeding up the metabolism. I don't chew it on days I don't go to the gym.

Glad I read this thread, I too am a smoker a pack a day or more. My doc gave me 2 prescriptions for Chantix about 2 years ago and i tried one and it didn't do a thing for me so when i'm well down the path of cure with tsm i'll dust off the Chantix sitting in my cabinet and try it again only this time trying it as an extinction.

I just bought an E-Cigarette. Don't think it will help me quit right now, but at least I am smoking a bit less.

WTE , so you've got it ,

What is the experience like with the e cig ? As good as a regular cig ?

I see them no place in the shops here . Can you recommend your supplier on this ?
