Hello
I've read keenly what people say here and have the book to hand .

I'm glad to be here . I won't really be able to paticipate imediately beyond perhaps a question or two as I suspect in the short term I shouldn't drink so as to drive down liver function readings and a case of fatty liver (steatosis) . However I've a small stock of Nal and vow to take it if I slip .

And that rather connects to my question which is about attempts to moderate . For me they work say fifty percent of the time . I tried really quite hard to stick to MM's 4 drinks and did so half the time but then kept scoring to high . So the question is is it acceptable to still make efforts for what they're worth because if I made no efforts I'd fear for my fragile liver ! ?

Hi Elfern

Nice to have you here!

I have just finished my third week, and after a heavy drinking day at the beginning of the week (only the 2nd occasion in 3 weeks) I have made a rule for myself that I will not take the nal before 6pm, and therefore not drink until 7pm. That is a very easy rule for me to stick to, as the most I am likely to have to wait after a craving hits is a couple of hours, and I think even I can manage that. I think to give ourselves a few easy rules is OK, but if you are going to be white knuckling and having mind arguments I think it is better to take the Nal and drink- that is only my guess though.

Your question is something I have wondered about myself- you might do well to post it in the 'Ask Dr Eskapa' section?
