Hi,

Like a lot of new folks here I've been lurking (and learning!) for months. I've had a drinking problem off and on for too many years. I guess I would be one of those who would be called a 'functioning alcoholic', never missed a day of work, barely ever had a hangover. But plenty of black-outs, that was the worst I think, or maybe the worst is the 2 times in 2002 (in my late 40's) when I got so drunk I got hurt falling down (really hurt, broken fingers one time, concussion and severely injured left thigh the second) and was such a jerk, I remember both of these times in vivid color like they just happened yesterday. They haunt me still and I've been trying to forgive myself all this time, but it's tough, because although I've toned things down considerably, I still drink, and I have a fatty tissue scar on my thigh as a grim reminder of my behavior. So, from all the things I've read on this site I am very optimistic that I can change and forgive myself, respect myself and live the rest of my life happily.

I'm going to hop on over to the general discussion board now to relate my story of telling my doctor about the sinclair method. (I didn't think here was appropriate)

Thanks for this site, I'm so grateful!
petal

Hello and welcome Petal!

I too have painful memories that I'll never forget. But with TSM, you can forgive yourself and move on to a new and better day. Congratulate yourself for taking this step - you won't regret it! :D

Hi petal!

A warm welcome from the other side of the pond!

Like yourself, I have memories that I prefer to forget. Please forgive yourself and don't continue to beat yourself up as you don't deserve it.

Now that you've found this community, there is hope. So, dig in, and get a feel for what you can expect on The Sinclar Method (TSM) journey. BTW, have you actually started TSM?

All the best.

V.

Welcome Petal.

Yes, it seems we all have things we'd prefer to forget. I have a daily reminder every time I look in the mirror. As others have said, the time for self-loathing is over! The time for the cure is here! None of us chose to be addicted but we all are choosing to get over it. And we will because TSM works if you follow the formula and throw in a dose of patience.

I wish you my best.

Nick

HI
I'm a newbe too. I also cause myself bodily harm when drinking. Once fell with a wine glass in my hand---10 stitches later, also broke my pinky finger, fell off horses a few times, dislocated
my shoulder. It going to be great now that we are starting to protect your limbs and getting sober at the same time. Much luck to you !

Thank you all so much for your warm welcome, I feel like I found a new family, one who truly understands, doesn't just say the words. I took my first nal last night, and my second already tonight, so far so good in none of the horrible side effects I've read people have gotten. I know in my first post I was 'hopping' over to the general discussion board and indeed I did, but in the middle of it all, my husband came home and we got to talking and then I apparently gotten timed out. But I will get to that.

I know I'm going to spend a lot of time here, so much support and friendly folks!
