Hello to one and all,

It's early in the morning here, and I thought that it would be nice to say hello to all of you. I recognise some names from the My Way Out forum, i.e., SpringerRider, Lena, et al. Thank you, N101CS, for establishing this forum.

I was able to get a two-month supply of Naltrexone from my family doctor's nurse-practitioner, a few months ago, and am now into my fourth week of TSM.
I would have started the program sooner, but I had to return to Massachusetts, in early May, for the purpose of moving my mother out of her apartment and into a nursing home, setting up a financial estate plan with lawyers, etc.

I am a daily drinker, and have been so for most of the last 15 years. Over the last five years, being a stay-at-home dad has allowed me to become a day drinker as well. This accounts for my heavy beer consumption, i.e., 10-11 bottles of beer a day.

I bought Dr. Eskapa's book, and have read it. It seems to me that the individuals who are represented on the graph in Figure 3 really weren't alcoholics - drinking 36 units a week might qualify as alcohol abuse, but alcoholism? Additionally, the Finnish unit is 1.23% of a US unit, so on a weekly basis, that would be equivalent to 29.6 US units. I myself would only claim that as moderately-heavy consumption.

Anyways, I hope TSM works for me. I would even be content to drop my level down to 24 beers a week, along with two AF days. That might take at least six months.

I doubt that my doctor will give me a prescription to cover that amount of time. The MWO folks keep referring to Riverside Pharmacy, but I don't know how long that would take - I only have 35 more tablets left. Do any of you have experiences with Riverside Pharmacy? I need to find a source for Naltrexone soon!

Wishing you all the best,

francophone

Hi francophone,

Welcome aboard!

Being from the other side of the pond, I have to confess that I'd never heard of Yakima County. However, from a beer-lover's perspective, where better to live in the US than its hop-growing capital! It's equivalent to the county of Kent in the UK. To us Brits, we refer to Kent as the Garden of England.

I found your comment interesting re the weekly consumption of those participating in the Finnish trial. Particularly, if the units are Finnish units - that hadn't crossed my mind.

Regarding Riverside Pharmacy, I personally have no experience but I think quite a few people in the Sinclair Community have used them. I'm sure you'll hear back soon from these members.

Anyway, all the very best on your TSM journey!

V.

Good morning Robert! I do remember you. I'm happy you've joined us.

Some use alldaychemist here and they are far less expensive than River. I plan to try them next time.

Thank you for your kind responses, Virgil, Waiting to Exhale and Lena. I am so glad that I posted yesterday - this is a great forum.

Virgil, it's a fine and wonderful thing to have somebody on the forum from England. I became very Anglophilic a long time ago - I was stationed at RAF Mildenhall. as a member of the USAF. during the early Eighties. Memories of cycling rides to Ely and Cambridge are still with me to this day. I absolutely love East Anglia.

I thank you for your comment regarding River Pharmacy, Waiting to Exhale, as well as your comment, Lena.

Hi francophone,

Although I've visited both Ely and Cambridge, you almost certainly know East Anglia better than I do! Of course, cycling and Cambridge are as inseparable as fish and chips; I suspect the only place in England with as many bicycles is Oxford.

All the best to you.

V.
