I have a doctor's appointment on February 8 to hopefully start on the medication. I am drinking a bottle of wine a day and I am going to AA but haven't been able to get sober. I am hopeful the doctor can help me. But I am terrified of vomiting and it sounds like that's a very common side effect of the meds. Is it really? Is it awful? Thanks for any insight.

I have been taking Naltima for around 21 days and I haven't had any nausea. In fact, I haven't had any side effects at all at 50 mg. I can't even tell it's there except that I am gradually reducing the drinks I have.

The side effects vary from person to person and as with Case, some get no side effects at all. I was irritable and had a bit of a headache at the base of my skull. Some people get more anxious, some get more relaxed. The side effects, if any, tend to pass within a few days to two weeks.

Do review the link to the hints and tips I posted in your other thread, especially the part about how to start. Perhaps your doctor can prescribe an anti-emetic that you can keep on standby?
