Hello all. Just wanted to relate my success using TSM. I've been drinking since my teens and I am now 60. The last few years I tried to rein in my drinking through sheer willpower without success. I saw the Alcholholism Cure on Amazon and bought the e-book. What an outrageous title. At my annual checkup I asked my doctor for Naltrexone and he agreed to give me a 6 month prescription although he said the Sinclair Method I described was a bunch of crap. He was a certified addiction specialist so he should know. Anyway, I ignored his advice and used TSM starting in August of last year
Right away I could see results which was very encouraging. Five beers a day turned to three. I bought the best tasting and strongest microbrews I could find, and went to bars and was served delicious beers and shots by beautiful young women. (I figured I would go out in style). Anyways it got to the point where it was an effort to drink more than one beer. My wife would be astonished when I didn't finish my drink when we would go out when I used to always finish mine, hers and anyone else's (so as not to waste them).
So by the end of last year I just stopped drinking entirely. No cravings, no missing out at all which I find surprising considering I was a heavy drinker for over forty years.
I told my brother, who is a psychiatrist who treats alcholholics, about the Sinclair Method, and he never heard of it. He is impressed with my success. I am amazed that TSM is not more well known in medicine. Hopefully that will change.

Thanks for posting that, it's an amazing story! Congratulations on the extinction of your craving too. It must feel great to have the booze under your thumb for a change.

What does your doc say now about that "bunch of crap"?

So it was 5 months from start to cure?

Thanks JoeSixPack. I had confidence TSM would work and it did. It took about five months to get to the point I could quit and now I am a non drinker. It doesn't feel wierd, it feels great.
I don't know if I will even tell my doctor about TSM and the success I had. His words were "now why would you want to do the very thing you're trying to not do?" He would probably still think TSM is a bunch of crap, but it's hard to argue with this kind of result.
I keep a couple of Naltrexone pills in my wallet just in case I ever decide to drink again (for whatever reason) and I will not look at it as a failure or a setback if I do; rather it will just be another therapy session.

nomore - I am SO happy for you. I DO think that you should tell your doctor about your success - with him being an addictions specialist he needs to know that TSM CAN and does work - I too am a success story and do not drink any more - as we know, can if we want to - I just do not want to! You are lucky in it working in 5 months for you - it took me 11 to the day! I am SO happy for you - wonderful news and thanks for sharing it with us. Did you have the book? There are pages in the back of it for specialists - if you do have it, maybe you could ask him tg read those pages? As an addiction specialist he needs to be more open minded!

Hugs, Maggie

Nomore,

I am glad you posted to let us know about your success, and glad you didn't listen to your doctor. I agree with Maggie, please let your doctor know how wrong he was. I am sure he has patients that are still craving alcohol after a year or two (I was when I went sober, and why it failed 3 times), but if he is in it for the money he will not listen. There are a couple of drug methods to help AUD patients along with a proven track method of working, so I am surprised that doctor is so closed minded.

Anyways, enjoy your sobriety and/or drink if you want to! I am sure you are as tickled as I am that you can say that...you now have a choice!

I am happy for you and continue to nal on!

Jaba

I had to see my doctor for some stuff this week - and told him about my intake since 5th December (maybe 7 drinks total - not sure but around there) and he was really pleased - and said to me that he had had a couple of folk for whom it didn't work - I told him that I ALWAYS followed the GR - he said that he knew that the folk for whom it hadn't worked had had drinks some days without taking the nal - so I explained the way it works - he wrote down the name of this web site and the book title! He was really interested and seemed positive - so please, do share all with your doctor - we need as many docs as possible to be on board with this!

Hugs, Maggie x

So much for 'doctor knows best' huh.

It would be interesting to see how he takes the news that TSM has cured your alcoholism. My guess is that he becomes even more resolved in his pig headed know it all 'analysts' that it's a bunch of crap. But I would report it back to him anyway and who knows maybe he can pass it on to future patients and save their lives too.

He's an excellent doctor, Ocean, and has treated all my ailments over the years appropriately and efficiently and I am thankful the he gave me a Naltrexone prescription so I could persue TSM on my own. All of you guys are probably right though that I should mention my success to him because it (TSM) is a significient breakthrough in addiction treatment. But it is not as simple as taking a cycle of antibiotics to treat an infection. TSM involves the patient educating himself and following the Naltrexone + waiting + drinking protocol carefully and consistently, and not everyone is going to do that. In broad use I would imagine that TSM would not be as successful to the general drinking population as it is to the motivated alcoholics now using it. But I could be wrong.
