I am 54 and have been drinking since i was 15. I usually drink a bottle of wine a night but it getting to the stage where i could really do with drinking more. I am so afraid that i will in the perscentage of people that naltrexone did not help. Does any one know why it only helped 75%

Hey Gilly - great name! I have the most wonderful brindle boxer mix dog named Gilly. In her case, it's short for "Mrs. McGillicuddy."
Welcome to the board. Usually those who succeed on Naltrexone have a strong family history of alcoholism. They also like very sweet and very spicy foods. Go figure. . .
Really, we think the success rate is higher than reported. About 10% of those who 'failed' stopped taking the Naltrexone. Of the remainder, who knows how many reported honestly? We know that Naltrexone worked for 100% of the rats, who weren't given a choice in the matter.
