I don't know exactly the unit counting process yet so I will just say I drink anywhere from 7 to 20 12oz beers in a day. If I were to average that it would be approximately twelve 12 ounce beers each day(maybe? my math is terrible). I picked up Ray Eskadas book 3 weeks ago and have read it cover to cover twice. I tried to talk my partner to explain how I am going to try (once gain) to overcome this addiction. My partner is ambivalent toward any treatment. She is very angry with me because I do not have the "willpower" to stop myself. My 14 year old daughter seems cautious, yet hopeful. I am hopeful, as well. I met with my primary care physician today. I had printed and copied as much information as I thought he might need. I also kept a drinking diary for a week and a half. My doctor left me with hope. He had not heard of naltrexone or TSM before today. I left him as much information as I had available and he promised to research over the weekend. Let's hope that on my next appointment, May 12, I will have a new prescription. It is extremely promising that my Dr. is willing to do the research before saying yay or nay.

Hi SA,

Good for you! I hope your MD will agree to prescribe, based on his research. Many doctors will not prescribe Naltrexone to be used via The Sinclair Method. However, if you approach them with the attitude that you want to use it as an anti-craving medication, while maintaining abstinence, they will prescribe. Then you take it one hour prior to drinking. Once your drinking is under control, you can go back and explain to your doctor how you actually used it, so he can see how the actual process works.

Good luck, and keep us all posted!
