Hey everyone,
So happy to post here. Haven't started on the Sinclair Method yet but happy to start this site. I took a month off drinking to clear my head and decide on the best way to modify my drinking habits. I have been reading up on the Sinclair method and decided to go with Naltrexone and Behavior Modification. I'm on my last week of no drinking and tried 25mg of Naltrexone just to make sure what my physical reaction would be. So far good, a little light-headed for about 30 min. so I'm going to start my journey back to moderation with just 25mg.
Happy journeys :D

Hi! Welcome to the forum.

Obvious question: If you took a month off of drinking with little trouble, are you sure you need something as drastic as the Sinclair Method? It will remove the pleasure from drinking, and that has to be a permanent choice if it's going to work.

I definitely want to try this. I have gone abs for stretches in the past, but when I've tried moderating, I haven't been very successful. I go in with the best of intentions but end up in an unhealthy relationship with alcohol again.
There were many moments when this month has been tough, I am paying attention to what, when and where these times take place to hopefully either deal with my environment better or avoid really bad situations. From what I've read, Naltrexone helps with the cravings, which is my biggest issue during moderation attempts. Just run away into the alcohol and forget everything. Whether I decide to drink moderately or abstain at the end of this journey, I want this decision to be a free choice, not dictated by years of a bad habit.

Well, it definitely helps with cravings. At the end, you will no longer care about alcohol. Abstaining is easy. Moderation is kind of a chore, although some choose to do it anyway because they have other reasons to drink alcohol.

Yeah, dont believe all the hype. It is a very effective treatment, but many of us find that the costs of nal outweigh joyless casual drinking.

For the treatment to work you have to commit to always following the golden rule.
