I just learned about TSM from Claudia Christian's book. I really came upon it "by chance", I'm an advid reader and was in the mood for a memoir, started searching on Kindle and hers came up on the list. I had no idea who she was, after reading the summary, I downloaded it. I thought it would be a fun read, but in the back of my mind, I thought OK, let me see what she has to say about alcoholism, since I had known for awhoile I was out of control. I've placed my order and am anxiouslt awaiting the delivery. I so hope I'm in the 80%!

I thank Claudia for me being here!

Hi ECQ

I'm very new here too .. had been reading for a while and my Nal just arrived yesterday morning... first night last night and it went VERY well .. I'm trying not to get too excited because I've read a bit about the honeymoon period ... but I was so relieved not to have any side effects ... just maybe wee bit flushed in the face and quite content with 2 small glasses of wine, slept great ... feel brillint this morning! I'll maybe give Claudia's book a look ... I'm just hopeful this TSM will work for me - you .. and us all here - like a dream come true for me if I can finally cut down and regain control!

Good luck ECQ and hope the postman (or whoever) brings your Nal soon Lorraine

Hi Ex,

My response to Nal was very rapid. I took a full 50mg, felt a little nauseus and "wierd" but I desperately wanted the nightmare to end asap. After the first pill alcohol (red wine) never tasted the same, actually repulsive, and the euphoria never happened again. , I did drink a few more times, because of stress, but alcohol never produced that "feeling" ever again. Also, the nausea from nal was strong in my mind when I thought about having a drink to the point of just calling it quits with drinking.

My problem is dealing with stress. And I think that's the problem for most people.

Try to plan for something like that...the safe alternative to alcohol.

My first night taking the meds was a wine drinking night, I couldn't wait to try it. I normally would drink the whole bottle (white), only drank half the bottle that night, and didn't drink the other half for another 4 days! I was a nightly drinker, notice I am already saying was because I now only drink about 3 nights a week as opposed to 6-7. My intake is still about half, a few times I drank more, I'm also "sipping" now, my husband actually finishes his drink before me, used to be the other way around.

There have been numerous nights where my husband asks me to go to the liquor store and I refuse, I don't want to drink, so don't want to drive to get it for him! Also, some nights he drinks and I don't, another new experience for the past 5 years (before that, I hardly drank).

I feel horrible the day after and don't know how anyone could work the day after! I'm nauseous, headache, tired and irritable. But it's working, so I'm committed. This forum is great and I'm getting so much useful info here, thanks everyone!

Thanks Christopher, I will.

Jan, stress is a huge one for me and is what got me started in the first place. I've had a huge amount of it in my life for the past few years and went through a very stressful situation recently involving my son which normally would have had me hitting the bottle, I didn't this time. That was big for me, no more "escaping".
