Hi,

I'm a 42 year old male, living in Japan and have just ordered 50 X 50mg naltrexone pills from an online supplier (it's not available here - drug approval is VERY slow in this country...)

I have been drinking daily fr about two years now and drink a hell of a lot most days (I drink something called shochu - 25% alcohol, usually drunk with water and ice - and drink a lot of it)

My GF is also a heavy drinker, but isn't willing to try this (natural girl...), but I feel the need to get my drinking under control (I've reached the stage where I begin to shake in the morning unless I drink something :S)

Will have to wait a week or two to receive my meds, but serious about having a go!

Wish me luck guys!

Good luck!

If you haven't already, get ahold of Dr. Roy Escapa's book, "The Cure for Alcoholism". It's available in print and in eBook version. It will guide you well. There is also lots of info here as well.

All the best. Keep us posted on your progress.

I have a specific question (one I haven't seen addressed in other posts)

I've been reading about selective extinction and have a particular concern... My GF and I, in spite of both being heavy drinkers (perhaps because of it?), enjoy a particularly vigorous and active love life (we have been together 2 years now and still are active twice a day...)

I'm concerned about this (especially as only I am willing to try TSM)

Any thoughts?

Hi Sakura and Welcome! I wish you the best of luck with TSM.

To answer your question, don't worry, you won't extinguish your sex drive, to do that you'd need to take 50 mg of Nal, wait an hour and then indulge...

You can download Dr. Eskapa's ebook from Amazon http://www.amazon.com/The-Cure-Alcoholi ... 1933771550, he goes into more detail about this kind of thing.

Greetings,

I am new here and was wondering how many TSM.com members live in Japan (I live in Tokyo). I am going to try to help Dr. Eskapa get "The Cure for Alcoholism" translated and published in Japan and I could use any help, or information you might be able to offer. I would especially like to know the status of Naltrexone approval in Japan - are any clinical trials being conducted or planned - is there a specific individual or group that is advocating for the introduction of TSM in Japan?

Thanks in advance for any ideas or info.

Cheers,
Matthew

Hi Matthew,

I'm in Kobe and very new to this... (I was poking around on the internet and found that quite a lot of research on naltrexone was done here in Japan)

I'm sure you know how conservative the medical industry is here and how long it takes for drugs to be approved...

Anyway, good luck! (and I'd be happy to know anything you find out...)

Mark.

I was thinking that the Wikipedia page on The Sinclair Method should be translated and posted in Japanese. I started the Japanese page but could use help translating and finishing the page. I am new to Wikipedia but was able to sign up and start the page without trouble. Hope someone out there might be able to help. Thanks, and best wishes.

Ummm... My efforts to master kanji have met with approximately the same level of success as my attempts to control my drinking :S (wish there was a pill for that too... :D )
