Hi All,

I've a dual citizen from MWO! I've been on MWO since Feb trying to find a way out. I will still be over there, as I have come to like them all and find ALL advice wonderful and the folks suportive.

I am a binge drinker, when I drink I am no longer in control, I drink until I pass out. Period. I don't leave anything in the bottle or the house. I would buy it by the case just to make sure I had enough at all times. I am a Wino, always White Zinfendel (and I didn't even like wine before). I would take out the first 750ml bottle in 30 min or less just for the rush.

I will post "my story" in the correct sub later today, but basically I didn't drink until about 2 years ago, mainly at first it was happy hour and 2 martini's once every few weeks, and nothing at home. I would go out a few times a year with my family and hubby dance and get drunk, have a hang over and forget about it. In
January 08 my drinking career took off!

I started off slow Saturdays only, maybe 2 or 3 glass on a night during the week. Then by May 08 it started becoming binge drinking on the weekends fri to sun, then by summer it was everynight, then all night, by fall I was drinking almost 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

At the end of October I went to my first AA meeting. I did good for a week. At the airport coming home stressed I had 2 glasses of wine.

On that Monday I went to Happy Hour and that lead me into a path of complete and absolute ruins I was drinking 5 liter boxes of wine a day (I can't even think was the unit count that was).

By the end of the week I admitted myself to a rehab center. I spent 14 days there. I came home with Topa and AA and extensive out patient therapy (3 nights a week for 3 hours each time).

I stayed sober for 45 days and 2 days before Christmas I went on the bender of all benders and for 3 days I drank everything in site.

Jan I tried to have AF days and managed to go about 6 days in row, then back to binge drinking. In Feb I managed 8 AF in a row. March about the same the first half of the week looks good but by thurs or friday back to full on drinking.

So I've tried AA, smart recovery (which I like), rehab, going AF, TOPA (I was too loopy), modding with Nal, tough love.

I stumble on TSM on MWO and bought the book and the whole time I'm reading it and the posts, I just kept thinking Yes that me. This is the one for me. So I'm hopeful. I got the meds yesterday. So you'll see my post on the first day on Nals next.

Welcome Providence!

Yes, this method is likely to be what you are looking for. You can read my thread and see all the things I have tried. It's interesting that you liked SMART Recovery as did I.

The best advice that I have for this method that is not in the book, is that you have to be patient. It seems like it is taking forever to work, but it only takes months. Humans are such impatient creatures, we want something to change now, this instant. Life and the human body don't work that way.

Bob

Hello Providence. Is that your real name? Or is it just Providence that brings you here, and to TSM? Either way, I'm happy you stumbled onto us. I agree with Bob about the importance of being patient. This WILL work, but it does take time. I've entered onto week eight, along with my SO, and we're both beginning to see very subtle, but also very definite and consistent, positive changes in our drinking habits. Our overall intake is down by about a third, and our quality of life is improving by about the same percentage.

However, we both understand this is a 4-6 month treatment program, and we're willing to give it all the time needed. I look forward to sharing this journey with you!
