Wow, I haven't been able to get on the site for several weeks. I have missed the support and love from this site. I get it from my daughter but don't get it from my husband. I wonder why I stay married.
I can go to a party and wedding and not drink. I would like to try a glass of wine and see how it tastes but I don't. I do however, come home and get that vodka in.
I had blood work done last week so we will see how that is. I haven't missed a pill in almost a year. Which will be August 7. I will keep plugging, I also haven't had a single AF day.

Good for you for hanging in there, Meggie!

When did you start drinking on a regular basis?

Glad the site is back up and glad to hear from you again!

I never really drank at all, I could go years without a drink. I wasn't interested. I may have wine at Christmas, etc. Then when things got bad at home about 13 years ago I started drinking wine, I quit for a year and half 2007 and then started again because I thought I had control. I quit again in 2011 for 8 months and then thought I had control. I have been drinking gin and vodka since 2011. I have had a rare AF day but they are rare.

Hmm. I was wondering if you were early-onset (prior to 25) or not, sounds like not.

Does alcoholism run in your family? My parents didn't have an issue with it for instance, but my grandparents did.

Yes, my grandfather on my Mom's side was a drinker. He was the only one in his family, on my Dad's side he had a brother that drank. I do think addiction runs in my family. How are you doing with your drinking.

Things seem to be moving along, Meggie. I've had 6 beers in the last 30 days, 26 AF days. I started out at over 80 per week, I'd been a daily drinker for 30 years.

No, only on drinking days.

Have you considered bumping up to 100mg for a few days to see if that puts a dent in things? At this point, habit can drive things too, so it might not even be craving that you're fighting.

JSP...did you bump up to 100 at all or was habit an issue for you?

No, I never went above 25mg. Habit was an issue, I was able to break that up though and challenge myself on whether I needed to have the drink close to me. I often would leave it in the refrigerator and then I would have to go downstairs if I wanted another sip. That way, it wasn't in my hand and my conscious mind got another chance to intervene. I couldn't just move my hand a foot or so and take another sip.
