So I took my 1st 25 mg last night to give things a try.

Perfect line up for things to go wrong - vacation today, Thursday night, great craft beers and plenty of wine in the house (family is coming to visit this afternoon).

The result, 1 beer and 2 glasses of wine. Freakin' crazy, absolutely no desire to drink any more than what I had.

I am a little fuzzy this morning and slept much later than usual.

My wife and I were both skeptical since I have done AA, a 30 day inpatient program, etc. I hope that I have finally found something that works.

Thanks for everyone's support to get me to the starting block!

Escott,

It sounds like you are having a really good honeymoon period. I just want to prepare you that it may end, and when it does your intake will increase. It doesn't happen to everyone, but it does happen to most. If it does end it can get scary (at least it did for me). So, if the honeymoon ends, just keep taking that pill, wait that hour, try to drink as slow as your can so you can feel the medicine working. Remember to log you intake for your intake will most likely never go back up to pre-nal.

I am glad you have found something that works, for I know TSM has given me my life back and it will do the same for you.

Keep posting,

Jaba

Good deal, Escott !

I reread your former post, regarding your wife's concerns about TSM. I should tell you that I involved mine from the get go with TSM, and she was SKEPTICAL. Thought I was just looking for an excuse to keep drinking, etc. etc.

Well, it worked out well. Anytime we went out, she asked me had I taken the NAL, how many drinks have I had, was I going to drink more, what's the deal, etc

Anyways, at this point we laugh about it, and I have even filled her in on all my old hiding spots for bottles of wine, and my old tricks. She is even happier than I that it worked so well. Apparently, I'm much nicer to be around.

Having her as the wing person was a huge help. There's really nobody you can talk to about TSM in my position in life, so it worked out well.

Be optimistic. It works if you believe!

Escott - it is great to hear your first night results. Keep us posted on how it goes for you. I know you have heard about the honeymoon period - so just beware. You are lucky to have such a great start.

I am really kicking myself in the ass after Tuesday night. I am out of town on business and thought I could control my drinking considering I have a lot of responsibility for the week.

Only going to have just 1 right?

I have never gone overboard while at a work function so I saw no need to pack my nal.

Tuesday night turned out just like every other time I binge. Risky situations, missed work yesterday (huge mistake), and really upset my wife after I overdrew on my checking account.

Lesson learned, will not travel w/o again.

It helps to be able to post somewhat anonymously on this forum since I know other members have made the same mistakes and face the same challenges.

Escott,

Do not beat yourself up too bad, for you are not the first and you are not going to be the last!

Just have a stash of nal. everywhere so it will never happen again.

Please get a keychain so you can have a couple with you at all times. If you order them on line you can have extra to keep them in your briefcase (or computer case), your glovebox in your car, coats (if you are in a cold climate), luggage, in your desk draw at work (if it can be locked), and have your wife ask if you have your pills (my husband has seizures so I ask him that all the time).

There could always be times when you will be tempted to drink, so never leave home without it.

You need to remember that the nal blocks your receptors and if you do drink without blocking them your brain is open to that rush or "ah" moment and loving every moment of it. It will not stop you from progress; however, so early in the game you were lucky you stopped drinking and the consequences were not that bad, for it could have been a lot worse.

I am sure you know all this, but I was scared to drink without the nal. and I want everyone else to have that fear.

I do hope things get better for you.

Jaba

Welcome, Escott. Good advice from Jaba. ALWAYS have nal with you and ALWAYS take it one hour before you drink. Good luck and keep us posted.
