I got the meds for another month. I gave him the letter and he understood the program and the receptor idea. I also asked if I had any liver tests in July. The Physician's assistant always did those tests because she knew of my drinking. I asked if he had down that for july, nope. So we decided to have them done in late September. The excuse he wrote was alcoholism. Lovely, now it is on my record. My docs before never wrote anything about that and my record was clean.
I also asked why did I have to give my soul for a script, go every month. It is considered a controlled substance. Why am I sad, because it is in my records now.

That would make me sad, too, but if it means you move forward and get well, so be it. Share with us. I am looking forward to sharing your successes.

Sorry about it being in your records now Meggie - but maybe that means it will be easier to get the Nal from your doc? Just a thought ....

Hugs, Maggie x

I am going to call and talk to the nurse and ask that it be taken out. I will get the liver test but I want another reason stated. It will make getting insurance worse or other things.

I agree Meggie. What is it with these medical people.? My husband went to a doctor for some GI issues he was having. He drinks, but very little. If he is an alcoholic I am a monkey's uncle. The doctor asked him if he drank. He said yes, about 4 drinks a week. She immediately ordered blood tests to check on his liver, and noted "heavy drinking" in his file. I was furious. But what can you do? Of course all the tests showed no problems Newlife

Thank you, Jaba and I was upset too. i told him I thought he should take action on it but he is too passive. I cannot fight every fight for him. If it ever became an issue for insurance or other reasons then I would help him. He is self employed so other than insurance I don't think it would ever hurt him really. We already had MAJOR issues with that doctors office for other reasons, and I had convinced him to change gastroenterologists, which he has done. Still, it is an example of the reason why some of us are a bit reluctant to be honest with our doctors. Puritan America. Absurd. But thanks for caring. Newlife

Well, I called and left a message with his nurse. She hasn't called me back. Jaba thanks for the information regarding the controlled substance. I don't know, I just hope this medication works. I am close to retirement so it shouldn't hurt my job but what will it do in the future.
I am sick of all doctors saying they learned in med school that you always double what the patient says regarding drinking. I told my doctor then I won't tell the truth. I have even heard this mentioned on dr oz, and the doctors. So we are all lie. That sets up as losers as soon as we open our mouths. To be honest, I think my doc could also be indulging.
I will let you know if I ever get a call back.
