I'd also add that, in my opinion, there is some extinction that occurs when you take a Nal, feel very much like NOT DRINKING, and then don't drink. This has happened to me several times (where you couldn't have paid me to drink), and my brain seemed to associate the negative experience with alcohol. This would probably be more on the aversion side of things versus the endorphin-reward side, but it's still pretty effective. My problem now is that I have a bit of an aversion to Naltrexone. I haven't taken one in, oh, about a month! I haven't had a drink in about 11 days now, though, with no craving or even a real consideration of whether I'm going to drink or not. Not-drinking is my "new normal," so it's my default setting, if you will.
