Hello, everyone. I'm completely new and desperate!
I have been using TSM for a week now. I take 50mg 1 hr before drinking. Pour a glass of wine and immediately feel the same warmth and feel goods that make me want to pour another... and another... and by the end of the evening the bottle of wine is gone and I'm debating opening another. This happens to me every time I take Naltrexone (effects me the exact same way as when I don't). The medicine has had zero effect on the endorphines I receive from drinking. Has anyone else experienced this? By all accounts people say it curbs their drinking by blocking endorphines, but I honestly feel no difference. Except for maybe a little nausea. Today I'm suffering a bad hangover today after taking Naltrexone (waiting 1 hr) and drinking too much last night. Again. :( Any suggestions? I was really hoping that this drug would help me curb or stop. Other attemps to stop or curb drinking have failed. Also, I'm wondering if it could have something to do w/the fact that I take Zoloft (SSRI)? It's the only thing I can think of that might be blocking the Naltrexone from working properly. Anyhow, thank you for your forum and for listening and hopefully responding. :)

I started 3 weeks before you and have seen little decline in my numbers, though I don't crave till later in the day. In poking around boards, it seems most people experience a dramatic decline between 3 and 10 months, So you may want to do what I'm doing, staying super compliant and mindful and tracking progress. No need to panic for a quite a while I think. Most likely scenario for failure is non-compliance.

The SSRI might be having an impact, but some people found that they drink less on it too, so it's kind of depends on the individual. Did you suddenly ramp up your drinking when you started Zoloft or increased the dosage? If so, talk to your doc asap, don't try to adjust the dose yourself.

Not everyone gets an immediate reduction from TSM, some take a couple of months. Try pushing back with any techniques you've learned to delay, substitute and distract. Don't keep your glass by you, leave it in another room and keep a NA drink by your side.
