Just checking in with you guys. I'm 43 YO happily married father of 2 with a great life, nice house, cars & boat and a decent business income. Enough friends, and have plenty of acquaintances through lots of hobbies and sports. I don't even have a single demerit point against my license. All is great with the world... Except for my 20+ units of standard drink per day, everyday!!

Prior to this, I have not had any treatment, but have been to 90 AA meetings in 90 days.

I stumbled across The Sinclair Method by accident, when googling Naltrexone. A drug and alcohol specialist doctor had suggested I read up on Naltrexone as part of a detox week he intended to send me to inpatient care for. I am very very sceptical of taking a drug to reduce my abuse of another drug (alcohol), so I did a fair bit of reading. During our next appointment, I told him, yes, I want to start the Sinclair Method and please give me the prescription for it. He looked at me with blank eyes and said, no, I should go immediately to detox and take all sorts of other drugs, then Naltrexone comes when I abstain.

Anyway, I kind of insisted on starting Naltrexone (my nickname for it is "Nax" as it sounds less heroin related). So, on Friday 28th April 2017, I took my first pill and proceeded through the weekend drinking almost as much as I normally do, but somehow a bit less than usual.

So the journey begins... The first day of the rest of my life...

I've read about that same blank stare many times, often in response to inquiring about Naltrexone, let alone TSM. Well, get your drink log in order, because it sounds like we've got another doc to educate...

There's more traffic on OSL, so you might want to register over there and see which one you prefer. This board has gone down a few times over the past year and has gotten slow to respond now and again, making it difficult to post.

I very much suggest using it, it's a much handier tool than one might think.
