I am 10 weeks with TSM. This week I experienced some gastrointestinal issues. I am not sure if they are connected to the Naltrexone. First I experienced diarrhea like symptoms. My stomach was churning and I had mucus coming out of me which was a little strange. Later I had a light colored stool. I looked up these symptoms on the internet and found an article saying this could be symptomatic of liver problems. I still have diarrhea (it's been about 5 days now) and low energy but my stool has returned to its normal color. When I started Naltrexone my doctor gave me a blood test which indicated normal and healthy liver function so I find it hard to believe that these symptoms are actually related to liver damage or taking low dose Naltrexone. Still it made me a little worried. I will reach out to my doctor if these symptoms do not get better in the next couple of days.

Does anyone have any insight into this type of issue?

These physical symptoms definitely take my mind away from the psychological aspects of drinking. Even if they are unrelated to drinking or Naltrexone, the fact that I am not 100% sure about this is a wakeup call. When drinking affects my health it is definitely the right move towards stopping.

I think it's a good idea to check this with your doc, they might want another liver test just to be sure.

How much are you drinking per day, currently?

Have there been any changes in other meds you're taking?

Last week I drank 13 drinks total. On the heaviest day I had 5 drinks. That was a light week. My heaviest week since starting TSM was like 26 drinks.

No new medications although I do take Omeprazole daily for heartburn.

Like you say, maybe keep an eye on it and talk to your doc if things don't settle down shortly.

Things seem to be improving so I am becoming less concerned. I have been on Omeprazole for over a year and the study indicates problems usually manifest in the first few weeks. Thank you for the articles. Appreciate it.
