Every time I take Nal, the next day I am so sleepy in the afternoon I have to take a nap. Even on a 1/4 pill. I thought it would get better, but it has been over a week. It's so bad that I don't want to drink anymore! Also I have slight nausea. Did anyone have this, and when did it go away?
Thanks for any help
Susie

Susie,

Most side effects will go away with time and I think keeping at 1/4 of a dose until those side effects dissipate is your best bet. I looked on-line and it looks like there is no time frame, but it will go away. I think for me it lasted about 2 weeks or just a little under. If you cannot drink just take a couple of sip. Try to take the pill just before you go to bed to have a "night cap" so to speak and that way you can go to sleep shortly after. The nausea if it become bothersome try to take something for motion sickness, for it may help. But I want to warn you that motion sickness medicine can cause sleepiness as well.

I know that this is so frustrating, but do not give up, for it is so worth it. I think newlife put it best by saying it is like being pregnant and having morning sickness and being tire, but so worth it in the end.

Just stick it out a little long and things will get better,

Jaba

Those are common side effects and as jaba said they should go away in time. I tend to get sleepy every afternoon anyway so I don't know if it was Naltrexone or not but in my mind sleepiness is way better then the sickness caused by drinking. If 1/4 tab is enough of a blocker then just keep at it for a while. It works for me. In fact I've never taken more then a half since I started almost 5 months ago and typically I only take a little more then a quarter, maybe a third, each time I want to drink. So if it works for you then that's great!

Just wanted to update - taking full pill now and the side effects are just about gone! I still get sleepy at night and sometimes during the day, but it doesn't feel overwhelming like before. Guess you just got to stick with it.
