I'm curious about the difference between Naltrexone and Vivitrol. Besides the obvious difference of pill versus injection, I'm wondering why I see You Tube testimonials where people say, "alchohol has no effect, I don't get high so why drink"? This confuses me because I thought they were the same, yet, when I drink on Nal, I do feel the effects of alchohol. The Naltrexone pills I take are from a US pharmacy and should be authentic, but then why do I feel the buzz when people on Vivitrol do not?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys.

I also couldn`t find enough info on Vivitrol -which costs way too much btw. However I think they really should have the same effect, and there is a misunderstanding about the `buzz`. Anyone who drinks will be under the effect of alcohol, i.e. get drunk; nal doesn`t prevent that. What people mean by `not getting the buzz`is the extra pleasure from the learned anticipation of getting high. The more I use nal for instance, the less I have an urge to drink. I still couldn`t get out of the habit of drinking, but it seems less and less interesting, I feel it`s a matter of time before finally one day I`ll not even start drinking in the evening.

Agree with Joe, I don't get the 'high' when I drink on Naltrexone but I do get the 'drunk' effects of the alcohol. Not that I get very drunk any more. To qualify, the high for me was that rush that gave me energy and had me zooming around chasing the party. I now simply feel woozy and tired.

I believe this is a fairly 'normal' reaction to alcohol!

There is no much difference between both of these but if you are wanted to go into the details. The resumewriters com article will help you out a lot and you would understand what’s the minor difference in between.
