Hi, I just started Nal last week and could use some clarification. I understand the process of including alcohol and that it is necessary to really get to the cure. I generally drink 3-4 glasses of wine per night, every night. I have made purposeful changes in my schedule so that I avoid even being home during my "witching hour" (I usually start drinking around 3pm) and now I don't get home until 5:30, then take a pill, so my first drink isn't until 6:30. Which is great because that automatically cuts out hours of drinking. But last night, I could have not bothered with the wine. It wasn't calling out to me. But I took the pill and drank the wine anyway simply because I felt it was necessary as part of the elimination process. But is my thinking backward? Will having an AF day the first week lengthen the process of elimination or am I overthinking this? Thanks so much for any feedback.

TSN will work absolutely fine if you limit the alcohol, and alcohol free days are always good. The whole point of this is to reduce or eliminate drinking, and any step in that direction is good

As you progress along with TSM, the desire to drink becomes less, but drinking less also accomplishes the same thing. So it all works synergistically !

My 2 cents, I would not drink if I didn't feel like it. Don't create any new bad habits by thinking your shortening the process. Welcome to the forum and good luck.

Don't drink if you don't feel like it. But if you feel like it, -go ahead in the first few months. Don't try so hard at first! We alcoholics are always so compulsive, once we hear about a cure, we want it today !To me, being able to not drink but still wanting a drink is not cured, and you will not be receiving the great benefit of TSM if you feel that way. You want to get to the point where you don't really care about alcohol. That's cured. And that only happens with naltrexone + drinking.

I echo the previous posts. You are trying to learn new habits and limiting alcohol is one of them.
Drink as you feel is my advice and well done on noticing the reduced desire.
