Today is my first day on Naltrexone. I took my pill at 3:30, couldn't wait the entire hour and had my first drink at 4:00. Right after that I had a call from a friend who happened to be in town and wanted to stop by for a cocktail. It is now 9:00...I feel like I do not want to drink and yet I feel like I need to drink more to get that buzz. Do I stop when I don't really want to drink? Or do I keep working toward the buzz? I am confused, yet I am sort-of happy that I am not feeling this horrible urge. I think the confusion outweighs the happiness at the moment. Is this a normal part of TSM?

I think you are not to "fight the urge" just drink as you normally would after taking the nal. That is apparently the "formula".

Hope this helps. ART

Hi SAnne,

While doing TSM you are likely to feel a lot of different things at different times. You could be experiencing the "honeymoon" right now. That's cool - go with it. Just remember that your previous pattens are likely to re-emerge over the course of time. You're OK as long as you follow the golden rule: always take your NAL 1 hour before you drink. Then just do what you normally do (within the limits of sanity and legallity, of course). TSM will work its magic behind the scenes.

It's really easy to overthink this thing. We get used to trying to direct our out-of-control lives, so just letting the program work sometimes seems counter-intuitive. But that's exactly what you need to do right now. Read the posts of others who have been up and down, down and out, in and out of faith. As long as we just follow the golden rule we will succeed.

As new feelings and experiences come up, you will find comfort in the experience of others who have been through same thing. Or perhaps you will go through something none of us has, and teach us all in the process. Don't worry, just follow that one simple rule: take the pill, wait one hour, and carry on as usual.

Good luck and welcome!

Fire

Thank you...the advice you all have given me seems very sound. I will try to "go with it" and of course I will be reading this site and re-reading Dr. Eskapa's book.
