Hey everyone. I've been taking Nal since October 21st and have been following the golden rule every time. Normally I'm only a night time drinker. However, I will be going to an all inclusive resort in a few weeks, this means free booze all day/night. Floating in a pool during the afternoon enjoying a few drinks will probably be too much for me to resist.

My question is.. If I start drinking in the early afternoon and continue into late night, will 50mg work for that long of a period? I don't plan on getting tanked so the drinks will most likely be spaced (at least until the sun goes down). So, if I take my Nal at noon will it still be effective at 1-2am? Should I take another 25mg in the evening?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to screw with TSM this late in the game. Thank you!

Hey Matt, sounds like your going to have a good time. I believe by the book you should be ok. I can only speak from my experience and that means nothing. I choose to add a 25mg booster after 4 hours and played it safe. For me at 220lbs, I have a hard time believing I need the same amount of nal as a 100lb woman. Your kind of at a critical point and If you can tolerate it and the extra dollar a day costs aren't a problem. I say consider it. Whatever way it goes....have fun.

Thanks for the advice. I'm a 6'3" 250lb guy so I think the 25mg booster would be a good idea.
Is it to much to take an extra 25mg every 4-6 as needed? The Nal is pretty cheap so the money isn't really an issue. I'm more worried about any effects of taking too much Nal.

After reading this thread I'm a little afraid I haven't been taking enough Nal to be covered. Typically after taking Nal I sip drinks for a few hours then feel like I get over a "hump" then start hammering them down like I used to. Ugh.. I really hope I haven't been counteracting the effects of Nal by not taking a booster after 4 hours.

This is a post on this Forum per Roy Eskapa who wrote the book:

Naltrexone 50 mg will block the effects of opiates and endorphins for 24 hours. Doubling the dose may increase the metabolite half-life to 48 hours ... However, there may be individual differences and some may metabolize it more rapidly than others. Thus if you take the tablet at 8 am and start drinking at 10 pm you may not be covered. There is a reason why we only want you to take the medication 1 hour before drinking not more.

I'll be honest with you, the title of your thread made me a little nervous

...............but I guess I can see how you'd be worried with so much temptation. Do they have stuff like jet skis or snorkeling at the resort you could do in the morning to postpone your drinking? I guess it's different for everyone, but for me, drinking with nal really isn't what I would call "enjoyable", and I'd be looking for something fun that you can't do when you're drinking. Eg I've been taking my kid hunting (enjoyable) but I can't do it if I'm not stone cold sober.

Anyway it's just a thought
